RACE 1
WEARINGOFTHEGREEN returns from a 13-week break and is having her first run for Alan Greeff. She has been disappointing in her last two starts over further. The daughter of Kingman showed promise earlier in her career. Capable work rider Xola Jacobs is booked to ride and there should be good improvement to come in the Eastern Cape.
SALAGADOOLA showed some improvement when fourth over this C&D last time. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and the blinkers remain fitted. There should be more to come from the daughter of Red Ray.
RUBY CLAIRE has finished second in her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1300m on the polytrack. She drops back to 1000m and the blinkers have been re- fitted. The daughter of Rafeef should earn another cheque for her patrons.
RACE 2
WISHES AND DREAMS is the best bet on the programme. She made the expected natural improvement when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is a progressive type and on her turf debut, she should take a power of beating.
MONEY GALORE finished 1.75 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
TANZANITE is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Gavin Smith stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
RACE 3
HALF MOON ISLAND showed massive improvement when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. He was slow into stride, raced wide around the turn but the manner in which he finished off his race caught the eye. The son of Oratorio will love the rise to 1600m and from his good draw of two, he can shed his maiden tag.
WILD FIG was caught late when third over 1400m last time. He finished ahead of the top choice that day but has to overcome a wide draw of 12. The son of Fire Away is a progressive type and he is one of the leading contenders.
PICK A POMODORO finished 2.6 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
RACE 4
INNAMORARE hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He jumped awkwardly leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish fifth. He won his only attempt on this course. The son of Master Of My Fate has won twice and finished third once from five starts over this distance. If getting away to a clean start, he should notch up his eighth-career victory.
MASTER FORESTER stayed on when third over 1800m on this course last time. He drops back to 1600m and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
CHEEKY LADDIE is better than his last start over this C&D as the jockey reported something amiss. He is a much better horse with the blinkers fitted. On previous form, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 5
GOLDEN PEACE is unbeaten from two starts since arriving in the Eastern Cape. He kept finding over 1600m last time. The son of Gold Standard should have no issues with the 1800m as he has won over 1750m previously. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he should bring up the hat-trick.
FIREALLEY moved up well over 1600m last time before getting outrun late by Zinovi. He has won once and finished third twice from six starts over this distance. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
BINGWA finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 6
BOURNEMOUTH is a winner of his last three starts. He returns from a well-deserved 14-week break which would have done him the world of good. The son of Canford Cliffs has been nominated for the Grade 3 World Pool Gold Cup. He is the class horse in this contest and should notch up his tenth-career victory.
ZATARA MAGIC has good consistent form lines to his credit. He found one too good in the form of My Best Shot over 2000m last time. The son of Rabada is likely to race on the speed and he may be hard to peg back.
JUAN CARLOS has good consistent form lines to his name. He finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result. The 7yo gelding finished second in this race last year and will be looking to go one better.
RACE 7
TIME FOR LOVE was outrun late when fourth in the Listed Stormsvlei Stakes last time. She finished 0.4 lengths behind FUN ZONE that day. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. She has won three times and finished second twice from six starts over this distance. Gavin Lerena is likely to use her early gate speed to overcome the wide draw and she may be hard to peg back.
FUN ZONE stayed on at the finish when third in the race referred to above. She will be ideally suited to this track and merits healthy respect.
LUNA HALO rallied late when 0.5 lengths behind RED SASH last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
RACE 8
ENCHANTING CHOICE was an easy winner of her last start over 1600m on this course. She showed a good turn of foot and won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. The daughter of Rafeef was given an eight-pound penalty for that victory. Richard Fourie steps into the saddle and she can remain unbeaten in the Eastern Cape.
MONTELENA challenged strongly in the Non-Black Type East Cape Breeders Stakes but found one too good in the form of Sweetie Darling. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HEART PEAKS finished 4.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. However, ENCHANTING CHOICE won easier than the official margin suggests and may still have the upper hand.
RACE 9
IGUGULETHU has good recent form lines to his credit. He stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but Craig Zackey knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
CHILI BOMB is yet to finish out the top two since arriving in the Eastern Cape. He raced from a handy position over this distance on the polytrack last time and stayed on at the finish. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
GOLD GUNNER finished 2.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough to turn the form around. The son of Lancaster Bomber can finish in the placings
