FRIDAY

Griquas v Golden Lions – Click here to bet

The Griquas are currently 6th on the log with a 50% win/loss record after 8 matches. They were well beaten by the Sharks in Durban last week going down 24-6 and the week before that they had beaten the Griffons by 15 points at home, a result that comfortably saw the Griffons plus backers collect.

The Golden Lions are up to 5th on the table with 3 victories and 5 defeats. Last week they were too strong for the Pumas at home winning 26-10 and the week before that they had gone down by 11 points to the Blue Bulls away.

The Golden Lions hosted the Griquas in Week 6 with the Griquas coming out 25-18 victors.

Handicap: Griquas +8.5

Money has come for the Griquas here and the current handicap looks well set. Conditions should be good and I am expecting plenty of tries and will bet that we get over 60 points in the match.

Suggested Bet: Over 60.5 points at 9/10

SATURDAY

Cheetahs v Western Province – Click here to bet

The Cheetahs are currently top of the log with 6 wins and 2 defeats in their opening 8 games. Last week they were at home to the Griffons where they ground out a 33-10 victory and the week before that they were favourites at home to the Sharks, but lost 17-24.

Western Province are currently 4th on the log with 4 wins and 4 defeats in their opening 8 games and they were too strong for a well backed Blue Bulls side last week winning 31-7 despite their opponents loading their side with URC players. The week before that Province had gone down narrowly 25-24 to the Pumas in Nelspruit.

Western Province and the Cheetahs met in Week 6 in Cape Town with the Cheetahs winning 26-17

Handicap: Cheetahs -6.5

WP have impressed me with their depth but they are going to find this Cheetahs side a handful and I am backing the home team to beat the handicap here.

Suggested Bet: Cheetahs -6.5 at 9/10

Pumas v Griffons – Click here to bet

The Pumas are 2nd on the log with 6 wins and 2 losses so far this season. Last week they were well beaten by the Lions 26-10 in Johannesburg and the week before that they had edged Western Province by a point at home.

They face a Griffons side that is bottom of the log with just 1 win in their 8 matches this season. The Griffons have been beating handicaps in recent weeks though and went down by 23 points to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last week and the week before that they lost by 15 to the Griquas in Kimberley.

These sides met in Week 6 in Welkom with the Pumas winning 64-6.

Handicap: Pumas -30.5

I am going to be looking for a points overs play on the Pumas when the lines are out and if the quote is in the mid 40s and although this handicap is big I expect them to beat it in front of their home crowd and at a stadium which is smaller than what they are used to and should create a great atmosphere.

Suggested Bet: Pumas -30.5 at 9/10

Blue Bulls v Sharks – Click here to bet

The Bulls are currently second from bottom of the table with just 3 wins in their opening 8 matches. They were the bookmakers favourite sons last week when despite been well backed after team news they lost by 24 points to Western Province in Cape Town. The week before that they had beaten the Lions 30-19 in Johannesburg, a result which finished right on the handicap.

The Sharks are currently 3rd on the log with 5 wins and 3 defeats and last week they were too strong for the Griquas at home winning by 18 points. The week before that they were away to the Cheetahs and got up 24-17.

The Bulls beat the Sharks 24-20 in Durban in Week 6.

Handicap: Blue Bulls +3.5

I have been impressed by the Sharks Currie Cup team in recent weeks and I think they can beat a Bulls side where things just don’t seem right at the moment. I thought his cap would closer to 7 points so the minus it is.

Suggested Bet: Sharks -3.5 at 9/10
