FRIDAY
Griffons v Western Province – Click here to bet
The Griffons are bottom of the table with just the 1 win in their opening 9 matches. Last week they were beaten by 20 points away at the Pumas, scoring a couple of late tries to deliver the +30 handicap for those that punted them.
Western Province are currently 5th on the log with 4 wins and 5 defeats in their opening 9 matches. They travelled away to the Free State last week going down by 5 points in Bloemfontein and these sides met in Week 5 in Cape Town with Western Province winning 47-28.
Handicap: Griffons +21.5
Western Province are able to field a strong team here and I expect them to be too good for the Griffons outfit and I am backing Province to win by 22 points or more.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Western Province -21.5 at 9/10
Pumas v Sharks – Click here to bet
The Pumas are currently 2nd on the table with 7 wins and 2 losses in their opening 9 games. They were at home to the Griffons last week where they very quickly got out to a comfortable lead, but stepped off the gas to let the Griffons close to 45-25 which was expensive for those punters who backed the Pumas on the -30 handicap or took their points overs at 48.5.
The Sharks are 3rd on the table with 6 victories and 3 losses in their opening 9 games. Last week they were too strong for the Bulls at Loftus, winning 41-27 and the Sharks started underdogs at home to the Pumas in Week 5, but won 19-12.
Handicap: Pumas +4.5
The Sharks Currie Cup side have impressed me in recent weeks and I think they will get the job done in Nelspruit.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Sharks -4.5 at 17/20
SATURDAY
Cheetahs v Lions – Click here to bet
The Cheetahs are currently top of the log with 7 victories and 2 defeats so far this season. Last week they battled hard to get the better of Western Province in Bloemfontein winning 26-21 and the week before that they had beaten the Griffons by 23 points at home.
The Lions are currently 6th on the log and in desperate need of victory if they are to make the semi-finals. They have only won 3 of their opening 9 games and last week were narrow losers away to Griquas going down 25-21.
The Lions hosted the Cheetahs back in Week 5 with the Cheetahs running out comfortable 52-15 victors.
Handicap: Cheetahs -3.5
With the Lions no longer in URC action I am expecting them to really focus on the Currie Cup and I think they can defy the odds here and win this match to get them back into playoff contention.
Suggested Bet: Lions win at 15/10
Griquas v Blue Bulls – Click here to bet
Griquas are currently 4th on the log with 5 wins and 4 defeats in 9 starts. They came out on top in a low scoring battle in Kimberley last week beating the Lions 25-21 and the week before that they had lost by 18 points away to the Sharks in another low scoring encounter.
The Bulls are 7th on the log with just 3 wins so far this season. They were well beaten last week by the Sharks at home going down 27-41 and the week before that they started favourites against Western Province in Cape Town, but lost 31-7.
The Bulls hosted the Griquas in Week 5 and that week they fielded their full strength team and won 40-3.
Handicap: Griquas +9.5
I am expecting this to be a high scoring match and I am going to bet that we get 8 tries or more.
Suggested Bet: Total tries over 7.5 at 9/10
