The Nedbank Cup semi-finals take place this weekend and the big game is the Soweto Derby featuring Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. We take a look at both matches from a betting angle.
Let’s start with a look at the Outright Betting where Kaizer Chiefs is trading as joint favourites at 2/1 with Orlando Pirates, you can get 33/10 Stellenbosch and 15/4 Sekhukhune United.

SATURDAY
Kaizer Chiefs v Orlando Pirates – Click here to bet
Kaizer Chiefs are currently sitting 4th on the PSL table having lost 2 and won 1 of their last 3 matches.
They have had quite a tough march to the semi-finals, beating Maritzburg United in extra time in the Round of 32 before seeing off Casric Stars 2-1 at home in the Round of 16. In the quarter-finals they beat Royal AM 2-1 in extra time.
Orlando Pirates are 2nd on the PSL log and have taken 13 points from a possible 15 in their last 5 fixtures. They beat Cape Town All Stars 2-0 on the road in the Round of 32 before following that up with hard fought extra time 2-1 win over Venda. They went to penalties against rank outsiders Dondol Stars in the quarter-finals.
Kaizer Chiefs did the double over Pirates in the League this season winning each fixture 1-0. You have to go back to 2020 for the last time Chiefs and Pirates met in a major Cup competition and here Orlando Pirates won a two leg MTN 8 Cup tie 5-0 on aggregate.
Bookmakers don’t see much in this game and neither do I and I think it is going to be a draw after 90 minutes.
Suggested Bet: The Draw at 37/20
SUNDAY
Stellenbosch v Sekhukhune – Click here to bet
Stellenbosch are currently 6th on the PSL table and unbeaten in their last 3 starts. Sekhukhune sit 1 position below them in 7th, but they have gone 2 games now without a victory.
Stellenbosch have had a really tough route to the semi-finals, but they have made quite light work of it. They beat Swallows 3-0 at home in the Round of 32 before seeing off TS Galaxy 6-3 on the road. They were back at home for their quarter-final beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1.
Sekhukhune saw off Liver Brothers 6-0 at home in their first Nedbank Cup action of the season before beating Cape Town Spurs 2-0 at home in their Round of 16 clash. Their quarter-final was a 2-1 win away from home against fellow PSL side Chippa United.
Sekhukhune beat Stellenbosch 1-0 away in the League earlier in the season and when Sekhukhune hosted Stellenbosch the game finished 1-1. All 4 head-to-head meetings between these sides have had 2 goals or less in them and 3 of them have finished with a 1-1 score line.
This should be another tight match and while I am looking forward to seeing the price for the 1-1 correct score when it is out, for now I am going to stick with another 90 minute draw.
Suggested Bet: The Draw at 18/10
The draw double over both semi-finals works out at just under 7/1
