AFGHANISTAN v NAMIBIA

This is very much the curtain raiser of the day, but that being said both teams have made fairly impressive starts to the Tournament.

Afghanistan opened with a convincing win over Scotland and then fought hard against Pakistan on Friday reaching 147 for 6 thanks to some strong contributions down the order and an unbeaten 35 by Captain, Mohammad Nabi. Pakistan chased that score down with 5 wickets and an over to spare and pick of the bowlers was Mujeeb ur Rahman who got 1 for 14 in his 4 overs.

Namibia have only played 1 game and that was a convincing win over Scotland where they chased down 110 to win with 5 balls and 4 wickets in hand. They sent Scotland into bat and restricted them to 109 for 8 with Ruben Trumpelmann getting 3 for 17 in his 4 overs and there were good spells by a number of the other Namibian bowlers as well. They got off to a solid start before a bit of a wobble eventually got home on the back of an unbeaten 32 by JJ Smit at a strike rate of just 140.

Afghanistan 1/6

Namibia 9/2

Suggested Bet: Namibia win at 9/2

I am going for the big upset here, as well as Pakistan do look the better side, Namibia have a number of players that can turn the match.

Suggest Bet: Top Batsman in the Match, David Wiese, Namibia at 12/1

If Namibia are to win this one it is going to be on the back of a strong performance from one of their key players.

INDIA v NEW ZEALAND

This is a big one with both sides having suffered losses in their only game to date.

India have had plenty of time to mull over their 10 wicket defeat to Pakistan in their opening game. Batting first they reached 151 for 7 after a poor start with Captain, Virat Kohli top scorer with 57 runs at a strike rate of 116. There was nothing much to report on the bowling front as Pakistan knocked off the runs without losing a wicket and with 2 overs to spare.

New Zealand were sent in to bat against Pakistan and scratched their way to 134 for 8 off their 20 overs with contributions from a number of the batsmen, but no one really getting going. Pakistan then chased the score down with just over an over to spare and much like the batting there was some solid bowling performances with no real stand outs.

India 9/20

New Zealand 37/20

Suggested Bet: Top Indian Batsman, Rahul at 28/10

Rahul is someone I fancied to fire in this tournament and I don’t see him missing out 2 games in a row.

Suggested Bet: First Over of the Match, Over 5.5 runs at 17/20

This is a speculative play, but I thought I would throw it in for some interest in that first over. Both of these sides have attacking opening partnerships and would be looking to get on top early so here’s hoping for a fast start.
