Race 1

DUCHESS OF SEVILLE showed good improvement in her last start over 1400m on the Standside course. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Chamu Mabaya is booked to ride and she may be the one to side with.

BREATH OF MAGIC stayed on when third over 1500m on this course last time. He has finished third four times from six starts over this distance. With luck in running, he should be the first male past the post.

AMERICAN REBEL is better than his last two starts. He gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. From pole position, he can finish in the placings.

Race 2

KOMMETJIE STORM is an unraced daughter of Elusive Fort from the Tony Peter stable with Calvin Habib in the saddle. She is related to multiple Grade 1 winner, Kommetdieding. She has been entered to race in a Grade 1 at Hollywoodbets Greyville at the end of the month. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

MARY READ has shown improvement in her last two starts. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. She is one of the leading contenders.

JILTED may not have seen out the mile last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Siyanda Sosibo steps back into the saddle which is a big plus.

Race 3

WILLIAM IRON ARM raced from a handy position last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Joker Man. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

GREETING MY MASTER set the pace in the Grade 3 TAB Sea Cottage Stakes last time but was outrun late. He has cracked a good draw of two and should the top choice fluff his lines, he should be the one to pick up the pieces.

VITELLIUS’ last two starts have been fair. He is having his peak run and from pole position, he would not be a shock winner.

Race 4

MASTER CHRISTMAS is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Egoli Mile. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. His penultimate run when fifth over this distance on the Vaal Classic course was encouraging. He will be mowing down the frontrunners.

DR FAUSTUS returns from a 10-week break which would have done him the world of good. He should love the rise to 1450m and if not in need of the run, he should return to better form.

BACK IN BUSINESS is better than his recent form suggests. He returns from a 20-week break which would have done him the world of good. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni rides and if fit, he should find a form return.

Race 5

FOSTINOVO has fair consistent form lines to his name. He was slow into stride over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish third. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and if getting away to a clean start, he can return to winning ways.

TURBO POWER moved up like a winner last time but was caught late by French Impact. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GOLDEN PAVILION was running on when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He meets a similar field and from his good draw of four, he should be right there at the finish.

Race 6

MISS HANNIGAN is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1500m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She received a five-pound penalty for her last victory. She is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

HAPPY MO raced from a handy position last time, moved up but was caught late by Mastership. She has plenty of scope and if not in need of the run, she should pose a massive threat.

ALABAMA ANNA has fair recent form lines to her name. She is back against her own sex and from pole position, she should finish in the placings.

Race 7

ELEMBEE should have won her last start as she was baulked for running room between the 400m mark and 100m mark. She has won once and finished third once from four starts on this course. She should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and with luck in running, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

LITTLEMARYSUNSHINE ran on strongly when second over 1800m last time. She has won twice and finished second twice from seven starts on this course. She will be at peak fitness and can go one better.

RANI OF KITTUR was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1800m on this course. She takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 8

SPRINGER was not beaten far over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 2000m and she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

AVOONTOAST was given a well-timed ride when winning her last start over 1600m at the Vaal. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. She is drawn in pole position and can show.

TEO TORRIATTE was running on when third over 1800m on this course last time. She is in a good space and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 9

PROFESSOR SNAPE showed good improvement in his last start over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He takes a drop in class and should strip much fitter. He is drawn wide but Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

TRIDENT KING finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

PLAYER is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type KZN Breeders Mile. He has won twice and finished third once from five starts on this course. With luck in running, he should be right there
