Race 2
HAT’S QUEEN made the expected natural improvement when second in her last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. She took the lead at the 300m mark that day before getting caught late by Festival Of Magic. Stable jockey Calvin Habib steps back into the saddle and in this field, she should take a power of beating.
EMBLEM OF THE SUN has fair form lines to her name. She is back in Maiden Company and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BELLA’S CHARM ran a fair race in her last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. She tries the 1700m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can finish in the placings.
Race 3
SERRANO has finished third in all three of his races to date. He raced from a handy position last time, moved up well before getting outrun late. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and from his good draw of three, he can shed his maiden tag.
I BELONG showed good improvement when second in his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.
TOWERS OF GOLD has produced two good efforts to date. The manner in which he finished off his last start suggests that he should enjoy the rise to 1700m. He is a progressive type and must be included in all bets.
Race 4
GREEN LIGHTNING has produced three good efforts to date. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be switched for running room at the 200m mark. It must be noted that What A Lucy has come out and won again since. The daughter of Potala Palace should love the rise to 1200m and she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
WILLY MEET AGAIN ran a decent race on debut over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. She lost a length leaving the start, raced green and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and over the extra furlong on offer, she should make the natural improvement.
CAT O’CLOCK ran a good race in her comeback run over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She should strip fitter and can feature.
Race 5
ALESIA’S LOVE ran on from last when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix won her only attempt over this C&D. Raymond Danielson retains the ride and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she can go one better.
MIDNIGHT GEM finished 2.35 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
ONE FELL SWOOP is better than her last start in the Grade 1 SA Fillies Sprint. Her form prior to that outing was good. She gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice which will assist her cause.
Race 6
WHERE’S THE PARTY should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was carried outwards at the 350m mark. She has won twice, finished second once and third three times from nine starts over this distance. With a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to side with.
WHAT A LUCY is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1100m at Turffontein. She received a six-pound penalty for her last victory. She is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
MICKE’S BOMB finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. However, she is yet to place on this course from 11 starts which is an obvious concern.
Race 7
FUSHIMI INARI did not get a clean start over 1800m on this course last time, but stayed on to finish fifth. The son of Danon Platina finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Philasande Mxoli steps back into the saddle and with luck in running, he can return to winning ways.
MOCHA FRAPPE raced from a handy position last time, but found one too good in the form of Trois Trois Quatre. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. From pole position, he should pose a threat.
MOOLA MAN ran a fair race over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
WALLED GARDEN was unlucky not to have won his last start as he had to be steadied for running room at the 400m mark. The son of Flower Alley meets a similar line-up this afternoon and with luck in running, he can return to winning ways.
PUTINS PROMISE has good recent form lines to his credit. He stayed on when third over this distance at Turffontein last time. Two of his six career victories have come on this course. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
FAST DUTY should have finished closer last time as his pilot dropped his crop at the 150m mark. The son of Global View has dropped in the ratings and he cannot be ignored
