Race 1

CHOCOLATE SOLDIER showed blistering speed and held on where it matters most when winning his maiden at the third time of asking. He hung towards the inside rail that day and his draw of two will be ideal. The 400m should be right up his alley and he may be the one to side with.

PRAY FOR RAIN is the class horse in this contest. He does not have the early gate speed for this distance, but he is the best-weighted runner in the race. If getting away to a clean start, he should be involved at the line. Jockey Jason Gates has a brilliant record in this race and he rides

ESQUEVELLE. He won his only attempt on this course. The blinkers have been re-fitted which will sharpen him up. If all goes according to plan, he should be competitive.

Race 2

BJORN IRONSIDE was considered good enough to race in the Western Cape during their feature season. He ran a decent race on debut in the Non-Black Type HeartFM Commonwealth Plate. He returns from a 20-week break, during which time he was gelded. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if not too green around the turn, he can win a race of this nature.

TWENTY ONE MAY showed good improvement when fourth in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He lost a length leaving the start, but rallied late. The son of Erupt is a progressive type and from his good draw of two, he should pose a threat.

LITTLEBLACKGEM produced a promising debut effort over this distance at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She ran on well to finish second that day. The daughter of New Predator would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 3

SWEET JULIA has finished second in her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She showed good pace last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Emerald Green. The stable have opted to fit a pair of cheekpieces which should sharpen her up. With luck in running, she can shed her maiden tag.

ELUSIVE BELLE has consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She drops to 1000m and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

AN AIR OF PRIDE’S last three starts have been good. She would have come on from her last outing and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Capetown Noir drops to 1000m for the first time and if suited, she may be rewarded for consistency.

Race 4

HER ROYALTY showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish that day. The daughter of New Predator is a progressive type and should love the rise to the mile. From pole position, she can go one better.

SWEETER THAN HONEY has good recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.

LONG STREET was running on when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. She finished 1.3 lengths behind the second selection in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 5

MAGMA MAGIC is better than his last start as he was reported to be coughing. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1800m. It is encouraging that Sean Veale is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. If he is able to get into a prominent position, he can shed his maiden tag.

HOODWINKED has produced two good runs to date. He stayed on when fourth over 1600m last time. The son of Canford Cliffs is a progressive type and he should go close to winning.

IBIZA NIGHT should have won his last start as he hung in the final 300m. He is in a good space but his widest draw is the obvious concern. With luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

MAIN DEFENDER was super-impressive when winning the Grade 1 H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes last time. The manner in which he quickened away from the opposition was eye-catching. The son of Pathfork is unbeaten from three starts over this distance. He jumps from a good draw of three and should take a power of beating.

ROYAL AUSSIE won a good race in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He has won three times and finished third twice from six starts over this distance. He jumps from pole position and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

COUSIN CASEY’S last start in the Grade 1 Premier’s Champions Challenge must be ignored. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He has cracked a good draw of two and can find a form return.

Race 7

DOUBLE GRAND SLAM has been ultra-impressive in her last two victories. She took the lead at the 250m mark in the Grade 3 Umzimkhulu Stakes last time, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Vercingetorix is the form horse in this contest and she should notch up the hat-trick.

RASCOVA finished 5.35 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. She is likely to race on the speed and should be hard to peg back.

WHITE PEARL was running on when third in the Grade 2 TAB Camellia Stakes last time. If this run has not come too soon, she should be competitive from her good draw of two.

Race 8

SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT produced a strong finish when winning the Grade 2 Hawaii Stakes last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is unbeaten from two starts on this course. He jumps from a good draw of two and should be the one to beat.

MID WINTER WIND is a winner of his last four starts, the latest of which was in the Grade 3 Byerley Turk. The son of What A Winter should have no issues with the rise to the mile and he is one of the leading contenders.

GREEN WITH ENVY was super-impressive when winning the Grade 1 SplashOut Cape Derby last time. He is ideally at his best over further and this outing will bring him on for future races. He is a class horse and merits healthy respect.

Race 9

GOLDEN PEACE was an easy winner of his last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He took the lead at the 300m mark and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Gold Standard won his only attempt on this course. He jumps from a good draw of four and can follow up with another victory.

ROYAL SWAN MASTER was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1700m on the Polytrack. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1900m. If getting away to a clean start, he should pose a massive threat.

ANCIENT WORLD finished 0.2 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights which is enough to turn the form around but his wide draw of 12 is an obvious concern.

Race 10

BALLROOM BLISS is better than her last start in the Listed WSB Scarlet Lady. She won a good race in her penultimate effort over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The 6yo mare takes on weaker this afternoon and if getting her own way in front, she may be hard to peg back.

AFRICAN BEAT has good recent form lines to her name. She is having her second run after a rest and should strip much fitter. She jumps from a good draw of four and merits healthy respect.

JAZZ CAFE followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She takes another rise in class but has plenty of scope and can notch up the hat-trick
