Race 1

BELIEVE IN FATE produced a decent debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. He understandably raced green, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.

BEYNAC ran a decent race on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He was green in running, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. He will enjoy the extra 160m on offer and should make the natural progression.

TOKYO MEDAGLIA is an unraced son of William Longsword from the Roy Magner stable with Raymond Danielson in the saddle. He is related to six-time winner Bon Vivant. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrant.

Race 2

KHETHIWE’S DESTINY produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. She showed speed and stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that Stars And Bra’s has come out and placed in a Grade 3 since. The daughter of Buffalo Bill Cody would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

FIERY PEGASUS ran a creditable race on debut over 1200m at the Vaal. She would have come on from the run and is one of the leading contenders.

SILVER PARASOL stayed on when fourth over this C&D on debut. She returns from a 14-week break and is having her first run for trainer Alec Laird. If not in need of this outing, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

WILD AT WAR is better than his last start as he was reported to be cut into on his left hind. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He placed in both his efforts under jockey Philasande Mxoli. The son of Danon Platina meets the right field today and he can shed his maiden tag.

BREGARDT ran a fair race in his last start over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. In this line-up, he can improve to fill the exacta spot.

LA CHANCE finished 3 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni is booked to ride.

Race 4

POINTER produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on the Inside course. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to side with.

OXALIS GOLD stayed on when second on debut over 1450m on the Inside course. The drop to 1160m is a slight concern but she has plenty of scope and cannot be ignored.

INTRO was running on when second over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Bezrin. If getting away to a clean start, she should be involved at the finish.

Race 5

DECEPTION PASS is lightly raced with good form lines to his name. He raced from a handy position last time and rallied late to finish second. The son of Ideal World is having his peak run today and he will be cherry-ripe. The son of Ideal World meets the right field today and he can go one better.

ROSSORE FINALE may not have seen out the 2000m last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He finished second in his previous two efforts over this distance. From his good draw of three, he should find a form return.

SAKURAJIMA has produced two decent efforts to date. If Kabelo Matsunyane is able to switch him off early, he should go close to winning.

Race 6

MAMBO COME TESIO showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1800m on the Inside course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe. From his good draw of four, he can return to winning ways.

SILVANO’S SONG finished 0.2 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

ARLINGTON ACTION ran on strongly when winning his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 7

CELESTIAL CITY stayed on when second over 1600m in the Listed Kings Cup last time. It must be noted that Narina Trogon has come out and won again since. He has won once and finished second twice from four starts on this course. He is having his peak run today and with a bit of luck from his wide draw, he can notch up his sixth-career victory.

GOOD QUEEN BESS showed good speed when third in her last start in the Grade 3 Betway Sycamore Sprint. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.

Race 8

ELEGANT ICE produced a typical second run after a rest last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Raymond Danielson is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

CULLINAN BLUE should have won her last start as she hung outwards from the 200m mark. She returns from a 15-week break which may have done her the world of good. She races well fresh and is one of the leading contenders.

FLOWERBOMB is better than her last start in the Grade 3 Betway Sycamore Sprint. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should feature.

Race 9

WAR QUEEN’S last start must be ignored as she was reported to have choked up. She won a good race in her penultimate outing under Raymond Danielson. The daughter of Act Of War takes on weaker opposition today and she may be hard to peg back.

GREEN FLASH won her last race at a nice price over 1000m at the Vaal. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight clearly has ability and she is one of the leading contenders.

REDCHERRY LANE won a good race on debut over 1200m at the Vaal. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but she could be anything and she carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs. She may be up to the task at hand.

Race 10

QUICK TRIP followed up her maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts on this course. The daughter of Trippi should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and she should give the males a run for their money.

COVERT OPERATOR stayed on when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and should be the first male past the post.

DUKE OF ROCK challenged strongly in his last start, but was outrun late by Wings Of Nike. He steps back up in class but is in a good space and must be included in all bets
