South Africa and Pakistan remain at the Wanderers for the 2nd T20 which takes place on Monday so we take a look at the game from a betting angle.
The 1st T20 was an exciting, high scoring affair on Saturday. The Proteas won the toss and decided to bat, scoring a useful 188 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Janneman Malan and Aiden Markram got them off to a strong start and Markram ultimately top scored with 51 off 32 balls with skipper Heinrich Klaasen contributing 50 off 28 balls further down the order.
Mohammed Nawaz was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers for 2 for 21 in his 4 overs. Pakistan chased down the total with 4 wickers and one ball to spare and the innings was built around opener Mohammed Rizwan who made a superb 74 not out off 50 balls.
There were useful contributions from the rest of the top order without anybody really getting going and Faheem Ashraf helped finish the job with an excellent 30 off 14 balls towards the tail end of the innings.
Beuran Hendricks was the top wicket taker for South Africa with 3 for 32 off 4 overs and Shamsi also finished with a decent figure of 2 for 29 in his 4 overs.
2nd T20 Match Betting
South Africa 14/10
Pakistan 6/10
Suggested Bet: Batsman match runs, over 29.5, Babar Azam at 17/20
Azam was a bit out of sorts in the 1st T20, eventually getting 14 at a run a ball, but this man is pure class and I am expecting big things from him on Monday.
Suggested Bet: Most Match 6’s, South Africa at 21/20
I am quite surprised to be getting this quote on South Africa who have plenty of boundary clearers in their team and won this market quite comfortably in the 1st T20 with 10 sixes against 4.
Suggested Bet: Highest individual score, over 67.5 at 17/20
Had you taken this bet in the 1st T20 it would have arrived thanks to Rizwan’s unbeaten 74 and if we get a similar high scoring game, which I expect we will, I think that this mark will be beaten by one of the players at some point.
