Orlando Pirates and Bloem Celtic meet in the MTN8 Cup Final on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. We take a look at the game from a betting angle.
Pirates were very impressive in their 2-legged semi-final against Kaizer Chiefs, winning 5-0 on aggregate. They also saw off Cape Town City 1-0 at home in their opening match. Pirates are undefeated in their last 9 matches, but in the League have drawn 4 of their 6 games winning the other 2. Their last game was a 2-2 away draw at Cape Town City and both teams have found the back of the net in Pirates last 3 matches.
Bloem Celtic beat SuperSport United 2-1 on aggregate in their semi-final having drawn the 1st leg 1-1 and then winning at home 1-0. They claimed the big scalp of Mamelodi Sundowns in the last 8, winning 1-0 on the road. Celtic won their last League game 1-0 at home to Black Leopards, but they are sitting just outside the relegation zone with only 4 points from their opening 5 matches. Celtic scraped through to the 6th preliminary round of the CAF Federations Cup when they beat Maniema Union 3-2 on penalties in the second leg over the weekend. They had carried a 2-0 advantage into the tie from the 1st away leg and rested a few players with the MTN8 Final in mind.
These sides met in the PSL in November with Pirates winning 1-0 on the road and 3 of the last 4 games between the sides have seen both teams score.
Pirates have won the MTN8 Cup 9 times, but their last time was in 2011, Celtic had 1 victory back in 2005. Last year SuperSport won the Trophy with a 1-0 win over Highlands Park at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

Orlando Pirates 8/10
Draw 5/2
Bloem Celtic 7/2
Suggested Bet: Orlando Pirates win at 8/10
Pirates haven't been getting the results I would have expected of them, but they have played some decent football and I think they will be too strong for Celtic.
World Sports Betting are running a promotion on the Final and if your side you backed to win loses on penalties you will get your stake back as free bets. See details on the banner below
Another bet I will look at when markets are out is the price of both teams to find the net, South Africa’s Cup games are generally tight, but these sides play with some freedom and historically there have been goals between the pair.
