BettingDiaryThere are 5 DSTV Premiership matches taking place on Saturday and we suggest a bet in each of them.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS v SWALLOWS

This is the clash of the weekend as it pits top spot and Defending Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns against Swallows who are level with them on points in 2nd spot on the log.

Neither team has tasted defeat this season although Sundowns have failed to score in their last 2 games and are coming off a pair of 0-0 draws, at home to Celtic and away at SuperSport.

Swallows have had two 1-1 draws in their last 3 games, at home to Chippa and away at Pirates and their last away game was a 1-0 victory over Baroka.

Sundowns 12 matches have been low scoring averaging 2 goals each with 9 of the 12 games resulting in a profit had you been backing under 2.5 goals. Swallows games have been even lower scoring this season, averaging 1.9 goals each with only 2 of the 12 matches delivering for over 2.5 goal backers.

Mamelodi Sundowns 8/10

Draw 12/5

Swallows 15/4

Suggested Bet: The draw at 12/5

This will be a tense clash and I am not expecting much in it. Under 2.5 goals is also an option at 13/20 and the 0-0 draw also caught my eye and the correct score market at 29/4.

BLACK LEOPARDS v CHIPPA UNITED

Black Leopards are 14th on the table and they have won 1 of their last 5 matches. Their last outing was a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Cape Town City.

Chippa United are 1 point and 1 position above them on the table although having played a game more and last time out they drew 1-1 with title challenging, Swallows and prior to that beat Galaxy 1-0 on the road.

Leopards 5/4

Draw 43/20

Chippa 47/20

Suggested Bet: Chippa United win at 47/20

Chippa have been playing some good football despite the fact that they are having to travel for all of their matches and they did the double over Leopards last season.

BAROKA v AMAZULU

Baroka are 8th on the table, 2 positions and 3 points above AmaZulu. They broke a 5 match run during which time they only took 1 point with a 3-2 away win over Stellenbosch last time out.

AmaZulu have drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 4 matches, most recently getting a credible point away at SuperSport United.

Baroka’s games have been amongst the highest scoring in the Division, averaging 2.8 goals each while AmaZulu’s matches averaged 2.3 goals each and only 2 of AmaZulu’s 12 games would have seen over 2.5 goal backers deliver a profit.

Baroka 29/20

Draw 2/1

Swallows 2/1

Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1

It is difficult to back either of these sides with confidence at the moment and the draw stands out for me as a big runner.

STELLENBOSCH v KAIZER CHIEFS

Stellenbosch are 9th on the table, but they have only won 1 of their last 5 games, most recent match was a 3-2 home defeat by Baroka and both teams have found the back of the net in 5 out of the last 6 Stellenbosch matches.

Chiefs have recovered from a disastrous start to move up to 7th on the table with 3 successive victories, most recently 3-0 at home to Tshakhuma. They had previously beaten Cape Town City and AmaZulu on the road.

Stellenbosch 7/2

Draw 21/10

Chiefs 19/20

Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 12/10

As mentioned above this has been a regular occurrence in Stellenbosch matches and while I fancy Chiefs to win and considered backing them outright, I think that the home team can also contribute to the scoring.

MARITZBURG UNITED v ORLANDO PIRATES

Maritzburg United are currently 2nd from bottom with just 2 wins in their opening 12 matches. Their last match was a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Galaxy.

Pirates are 6th on the log, but struggling for consistency and they have only won 1 of their last 5 matches. Last time out they played a goalless draw at Golden Arrows and Pirates matches remain amongst the lowest in the Division averaging just 1.9 goals each.

Maritzburg 28/10

Draw 2/1

Pirates 11/10

Suggested bet: Pirates win at 11/10

I am going to give Pirates the benefit of the doubt here and will back them to win this game and get their third successive away victory over Maritzburg.
