Race 1

WILKIES was running on when second over this distance at Turffontein last time. She gets the services of experienced work rider Samuel Mosia and if repeating that effort in this type of field, she can go one better.

JUMPING ANALIA finished 1.9 lengths behind the top choice on debut. She showed good speed that day, but was outrun in the latter stages. The daughter of Erupt would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.

WAITFORGREENLIGHT finished 3.6 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2

WYZEACT should have won on debut over 1400m on this course as he hung in the final 300m. The son of Act Of War should have no issues with the drop to 1200m. He would have gained from the experience and with S’manga Khumalo retaining the ride, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

RICHARD THE FIRST showed some improvement in his last start over this distance on the Classic course. He has been gelded since that outing which may have done the trick. The son of William Longsword is a progressive type and may have more to come.

MASTERSHIP produced a decent debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. He was slow into stride, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should fight out the finish.

Race 3

UNIVERSAL LOVE is an unraced daughter of Ideal World from the Lucky Houdalakis yard with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Onesie and Alibi Guy. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

CONTRA FISCUM should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be steadied in the latter stages. The daughter of Potala Palace will love the rise to 1200m and with luck in running, she should be the first raced runner past the post.

FAIRY CIRCLE ran a decent race when third over 1400m on this course last time. The 1200m should be right up her alley and if keeping on a straight line, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

SOLO DIVA has decent consistent form lines to her credit. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was carried outwards at the 200m mark. The daughter of Skitt Skizzle is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She meets the right field today and may be the one to side with.

AUNT PITTYPAT has improved in her last three starts. She stayed on when third over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She is carded to race on 20 July 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

SUMMER OF DREAMS set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Lil Miz Swagger. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If confirming her recent improvement, she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

Race 5

PURPLE PITCHER ran a fair race in the Non-Black Type Highveld Winter Juvenile Stakes last time. It must be noted that Main Defender has come out and won again since. The son of New Predator has changed stables since that outing. He returns to Maiden Company and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, he can shed his maiden tag.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME is lightly raced with decent form lines to his credit. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The son of Master Of My Fate tries the cheekpieces which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

DIESEL‘S SHADOW showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m on this course. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. The son of Diesel Jet is a progressive type and may have more to come

Race 6

MINI COOP finished 5 lengths behind CAPTAIN DIZZY last time. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He returns from an 11-week break which may have done him the world of good. The son of Coup De Grace races well fresh and he may be the one to beat.

CAPTAIN DIZZY showed good speed over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of I Am Giant. The son of Captain Of All takes a drop in class and with the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo, he merits healthy respect.

MUNCHKIN stayed on when third over 1000m last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

STRATOSPHERIC was an easy winner of his last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. The manner in which he quickened up and drew clear of the opposition was eye-catching. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. The son of What A Winter is in a good space and can follow up.

BARD OF AVON moved up like a winner last time, but was outrun late by Thunderstone. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is having his first run for Roy Magner and if settled into his new surroundings, he should pose a threat.

CLARKSON stayed on nicely when third over 1200m on this course last time. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The 5yo gelding will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 8

IVY LEAGUE was super-impressive when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She had to be switched for running room at the 300m mark that day and the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of What A Winter looks to have class about her and against similar company, she should take a power of beating.

MAMAQUERA finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. However, IVY LEAGUE won easier than the official margin suggests and she may still have the upper hand.

QUEEN OF CAMELOT was a tad disappointing in the Non-Black Type Highveld Winter Juvenile Stakes (Fillies) last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. On her previous form and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
