Race 1

GIMMIE’S COUNTESS is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. She is related to six-time winner Gimme A Prince. If not too green around the turn, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

MADAME POMPADOUR raced wide around the turn last time but stayed on to finish third. In this field, she should be the first raced runner past the post.

MOTHER INDIA was disappointing in her last start as she took no interest in running. Her debut effort over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville was encouraging. If this run has not come too soon, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

MC DAZZLER showed good improvement in his local debut effort over this C&D. He was running on well at the finish that day. The son of Rafeef jumps from a good draw of four and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can shed his maiden tag.

ALWAYS SHINING raced from a handy position over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of The Mask. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

FRENCH FLAME is the stable companion of the top choice. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and there should be improvement to come from the son of Fire Away.

Race 3

This is a weak Conditional Maiden field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is CALLABURN from the Fanie Bronkhorst stable. He has consistent form lines to his name and finished third in his only attempt over this distance. He is drawn widest of all but gets the services of Gavin Lerena who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

IBIZA NIGHT moved up well over 1800m last time, but was caught late. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. He tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

FIRE FORCE finished 2.15 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.

Race 4

KIND JUDY ran a good race when second over 2300m, against male company last time. She was not disgraced when fifth in the Listed WSB Scarlet Lady in her penultimate run. She takes a drop in class and can go one better.

LAST GINGER finished 0.1 lengths behind ROY’S ROCKER last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of eight, she should be competitive.

LIGHT OF DAY won a good race in her last start over 1600m at Turffontein. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is having her first run for the Barend Botes stable. If settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 5

SUNDANCE KID ran a good race when third over this distance on the turf last time. He set the pace and stayed on at the finish. The son of Master Of My Fate is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. His last victory came under Richard Fourie and he may be the one to side with.

WYLIE RILEY finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. He won his only attempt over this C&D and merits healthy respect.

BOWIE has consistent form lines to his credit. He was running on when second over 1400m last time. He will strip a much fitter horse today and Gavin Lerena may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 6

VISION OF WILL stayed on when second over 1200m on this course last time. She has won four times, finished second four times and third three times from 16 starts over this C&D. The 5yo mare is in a good space and with Sean Veale retaining the ride, she can go one better.

FAR HORIZON stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. She would have come on from the run and should be at peak fitness. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies which will assist her cause.

HEREINAFTER showed good speed when winning her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and must be included in all bets.

Race 7

ZINIKELE moved up like a winner in her last start over 1600m on the turf, but found one too good in the form of Soldier’s Eye. She has won twice and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride from pole position and she can notch up her fifth-career victory.

SLEEK AS SILK is better than her last start in the Listed WSB Scarlet Lady. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this C&D. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and she should go close to winning.

MAURITANIA stayed on when fourth over 1600m last time. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. Craig Zackey is likely to use her early gate speed to get across from her awkward draw of nine and she may be hard to peg back.

Race 8

FOREST JUMP raced from a handy position over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. Four of his seven career victories have come over this C&D. The 7-year-old gelding has dropped to a competitive rating and he can return to winning ways.

MR MOLONY is better than his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from seven starts on this course. If putting his best foot forward, he should pose a threat.

BALLY MAGIC found betting support when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. That was his first run for the Wendy Whitehead stable. He is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of two and merits healthy respect
