BettingDiaryThe AT&T Byron Nelson takes place at the TPC Craig Ranch, McKinney, Texas this week and the course makes its debut on the PGA Tour.

Craig Ranch plays to a par 72 with fairly generous tree-lined fairways and plenty of water to punish those straying too far. While we have no PGA Tour form to go on, there has been some Tournament golf here over the years and all indications are that scoring will be low.

Bryson Dechambeau tops the betting board at 8/1 ahead of Jon Rahm at 17/2. You can get 10/1 Spieth and 16/1 and better the balance.

SELECTIONS:

Bryson Dechambeau each way at 8/1

Dechambeau hasn’t been of his best of late, but showed signs of returning to it with a Top 10 finish last week. Dechambeau should benefit from his distance which will allow shorter approach shots into greens with pins that can be attacked.

Matt Fitzpatrick each way at 20/1

Fitzpatrick has been very consistent of late with no fewer than 4 Top 10 finishes in his last 7 starts. Last time out he finished in the Top 5 and his worse finish in those 7 Tournaments was a Top 40. Fitzpatrick has the game to adapt to most courses and if his putter is hot here, he should challenge.

Charl Schwartzel each way at 50/1

The South African hasn’t been at his best for many years, but there is certainly signs that he is returning to top form and I expect him to be course suited. His last 3 Tournaments have been a runner-up finish with Louis Oosthuizen in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a Top 25 and then last week at the Wells Fargo he finished in the Top 15.

There was some good news stories for South African golf of late and I am hoping that the man who has a US Masters to his credit can fly the flag high this week.

Brandt Snedeker each way at 100/1

Like Schwartzel, Snedeker is another player whose golf game is showing signs of returning to previous highs. His recent form has been excellent with a Top 15 in his last start and prior to that he and partner Keith Mitchell finished 4th in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Snedeker has a great record in Texas and this could be the week that he seriously challenges for the win.
