GOLF

The South African Open gets going on Thursday morning in Johannesburg and there are plenty of opportunities for punters to get involved.

Let’s start with the Outright Betting where Louis Oosthuizen is an 11/2 favourite ahead of Eric van Rooyen 10/1 and Charl Schwartzel 14/1 you can get 18/1 and better the balance and South Africans hold 6 of the Top 7 spots in the betting.

Someone we fancy might be a bit of value is Justin Harding, who hasn’t been at his best in recent months, but looks well priced at 45/1 the win and 9/1 for a place.

Something to notice is that the Tournament is played over 2 Courses namely Firethorn and Bushwillow and you can get First Round Leader betting on both courses.

Looking at the 72 hole matches we fancy a bit of the 8/10 Christiaan Bezuidenhout to beat George Coetzee who is 21/20 with the draw quoted at 16/1.

The Sony Open takes place on the PGA Tour and Justin Thomas is an 11/2 favourite ahead of Patrick Reed at 12/1 and Webb Simpson 14/1, you can get 20/1 and better the balance.   Our fancy this week is the ever consistent Marc Leishman at 40/1 a win and 8/1 a place.

CRICKET

The Big Bash League continues with the Brisbane Heat up against the Hobart Hurricanes. The Heat are currently sitting in 5th position with 3 wins from their 6 matches and they have won their last 2 in succession. Hobart Hurricanes have a very similar record and also sit on 3 wins from 6 matches and also won their last game.

The Brisbane Heat are firm favourites at 6/10 with the Hobart Hurricanes at 14/10 and there are a number of Exotic Markets available in the game including which sides will hit the most sixes as well as Top Batsman and Bowler on each side. We feel that there could be a little bit of value in backing Hobart Hurricanes to win at 14/10

The West Indies take on Ireland in the 2nd ODI and they are 1/7 for the win with Ireland on offer at 5/1. As in the case of all cricket matches there are a lot of other markets which are especially useful in a one-sided betting heat such as this one.

HORSE RACING

Local horse racing takes place at the Vaal Racetrack on Thursday, an 8 race card set to start at 13:05 and finish at 17:15.

The card has an open look to it especially towards the back end of the Pick Six where at the time of writing the favourites were trading at 11/2 in Race 7 and 9/2 in Race 8. There is a fairly obvious banker though Youcanthurrylove, Horse No. 8 in Race 6 and priced at 4/10 for the win and Capitiana could also be a possible banker in Race 4 at a current price of 33/20
