BettingDiaryThe France v Scotland game may be called off due to COVID-19, but we still have two Six Nations matches to look forward to this weekend and we take a look at them from a betting angle.

Let’s have a quick look at the Outright Betting where France are trading as 8/11 favourites, England 57/20, Wales 6/1, Scotland 7/1 and you can get 66/1 and better the balance.

ITALY v IRELAND – Click here to bet

Italy were much improved in their second match against England, but despite that went down by 23 points at Twickenham. In their opener against France they were hammered 50-10 and they have certainly showed more attacking intent than Italian teams of the past 2 years.

Ireland lost their opening encounter against Wales at the Millennium stadium, but they suffered a red card early in the match and despite taking the lead could not hold on, going down by 5 points. They were then beaten in a low scoring affair, 15-13 by France in Dublin and the rest of this tournament is really about building confidence in the team and perhaps finding a few young players who can step up to International level.

These sides met in the Six Nations in Ireland last year with the home team winning by 33 points and in Rome in 2019, Italy managed to stay within 10 points of the Irish.

BETTING

Italy 14/1

Draw 50/1

Ireland 1/20

Handicap: Italy (+21.5) at 9/10, Ireland (-21.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Alternative winning margin, Ireland by 11-20 points at 11/4

I like this Italian side to beat the handicap, but I am not overly confident and prefer the bigger odds that Ireland win the match by 11-20 points inclusive.

WALES v ENGLAND – Click here to bet

Wales have won both their opening matches as underdogs and in both games they have benefitted from the opponent getting a red card. In their opener against Ireland that red card came early and had a massive influence on the game and against Scotland at Murrayfield the red card came later, but at a critical time and Wales were able to step up and claim victory.

England have been disappointing in their opening two games. They lost to Scotland 11-6 at home in Round 1 and a number of their Saracens players clearly looked rusty and off form. They made a very sluggish start at home to Italy in Round 2, but did win 41-18.

England beat Wales 33-30 at Twickenham in last year’s Six Nations, but the year before in Cardiff, Wales edged it 13-6.

BETTING

Wales 22/10

Draw 25/1

England 9/20

Handicap: Wales (+6.5) at 9/10, England (-6.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Wales (+6.5) at 9/10

Wales have named a strong side and England haven't shown me anything to convince me that they are ready to win a game like this by 7 points or more.
