BettingDiaryThe Six Nations is set for a thrilling, if somewhat belated climax, when France hosts Scotland in Paris on Friday night. We look at the game from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the current table which sees Wales on top with 20 points, 5 points clear of Ireland and France. Ireland of course like Wales have played all their matches and France need a bonus point win against Scotland and a points difference of 21 or more to claim the title.

The bookmakers think it is more likely that Wales will be celebrating come the final whistle and World Sports Betting go 4/7 Wales and 14/10 France to win the title.

On to the game itself and France ensured a dramatic climax to the tournament with a thrilling come from behind win over Wales in Paris last week. They led early, but Wales took control of the game before a couple of late scores by France including 1 brilliant try after the hooter saw them get up 32-30.

Prior to that France had gone down narrowly to England, beaten Ireland by a couple of points in Dublin in a low scoring affair and hammered Italy in Rome.

Scotland were too strong for Italy last week winning 52-10 at home, but they will be disappointed not to be in with a chance of winning the Six Nations as they lost a couple of close games they perhaps should have won, going down by 3 points at home to Ireland and 1 point at home to Wales. The highlight of their campaign was, no doubt, a 5 point win over England in week 1.

Looking at head-to-head action between these sides, France beat Scotland 22-15 in Edinburgh in the Autumn Nations Cup last season and they met in the Six Nations in 2020 with Scotland winning by 11 points at home. The last time they met in Paris it was France coming out on top 27-10.

BETTING

France 1/7

Draw 40/1

Scotland 11/2

Handicap: France (-15.5) at 9/10, Scotland (+15.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Handicap, France (-15.5) and last try scorer Brice Dulin at 18/1

Scotland will be no pushover, but I believe if this French team turn it on they can beat the handicap and possibly get to the 21 points they need to win the Six Nations. There is no doubt they will be going for tries, but how about a bit of 18/1 Dulin to finish things off as he did last week with a spectacular try.
