HUNGARY v PORTUGAL

The Hungarians were only 4th in their qualifying group, but they managed to get in through the back door, winning their playoff games against Bulgaria and Iceland. Their World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign is off to a good start with a draw against Poland and wins over San Marino and Andorra. Their recent warm-up games have been low scoring with a 1-0 win over Cyprus and a goalless draw with Ireland.

Portugal only lost once in the qualification stages, but it was to group winners, the Ukraine. They are undefeated in World Cup 2022 qualifiers with a victory over Azerbaijan, a draw in Serbia and finally a victory in Luxembourg. They played to a goalless draw against Spain in a recent friendly International and beat Israel 4-0.

Hungary 7/1

Draw 33/10

Portugal 40/85

Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 19/20

Given this group is so strong, Portugal will have no choice but to come out firing and looking for goals and that may, in turn, open up opportunities for Hungary. I think we will get 3 goals or more in total in this game.

FRANCE v GERMANY

France topped their qualification group, losing only one game 2-0 away to Turkey early in the campaign, they won 8 and drew 1 of the 10 matches. In World Cup 2022 qualifying they have won 2 and drawn 1 and in recent warm-ups beat Bulgaria and Wales both by 3-0 margins.

Germany also lost only once in qualifications, 4-2 at home to the Netherlands but they topped their group with 7 wins and that lone defeat. In World Cup 2022 qualification Germany opened up with victories over Iceland at home and Rumania away, but were then stunned 2-1 at home by North Macedonia. In warm-up matches the Germans drew 1-1 with Denmark and hammered Latvia 7-1.

France 17/10

Draw 22/10

Germany 18/10

Suggested Bet: France win at 17/10

The bookmakers cannot separate these sides and understandably so. It is going to be interesting to see what sort of game we are going to get as avoiding defeat is going to be crucial given the strength of this group. That being said if a side can pick up 3 points they will be well on their way to qualification and I think this French side have the class to do just that.
