The first leg of four Europa League matches take place on Thursday when our focus is on Lyon v Manchester United and Spurs v Eintracht Frankfurt
Match result prices quoted from Sportingbet are correct at the time of writing but subject to change.
Lyon 1.45/1 Draw 24/10 Manchester United 1.75/1
Lyon cruised through to the quarter finals with a 7-1 aggregate win over FCSB of Romania. They won the first leg 3-1 away from home and followed up with a 4-0 victory, Fofana scored twice in the first leg and Nuamah bagged a brace in the second.
In the league phase Lyon qualified automatically with a record of 4 wins, 3 draws and just the 1 defeat.
In Ligue 1 Lyon are currently fifth only 4 points behind second placed Marseille with PSG already having secured the French title.
United came through their Ro16 clash with Real Socieded with a 5-2 aggregate win. The first leg in Spain finished all square at 1-1 and a Bruno Fernandes hat trick (including 2 pens) saw United through.
United were unbeaten in the league phase, drawing their first 3 matches but winning each of the next 5.
In the EPL United played out a forgettable 0-0 draw at home to City in Sunday's Manchester derby and they remain below half way in standings with the Europa League their only hope of a trophy this season.
The Verdict
I'll admit to not having seen much of Lyon and not really wanting to see much of United but the visitors are unbeaten in the UEL and I fancy they can come away with a draw.
Bets: Match Result Draw at 24/10 with Sportingbet
Spurs 0.78/1 Draw 29/10 Eintracht Frankfurt 31/10
After losing the first leg of their Ro16 clash away to AZ Alkmaar, Spurs turned things around with a 3-1 in on the night to go through 3-2 on aggregate.
Spurs had qualified for the knockout rounds automatically with a record of 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat.
In the EPL Spurs are in a similar position to Man United in the standings and they are also looking to this competition to rescue a poor season.
Frankfurt won the first leg of their Ro16 clash with Ajax 2-1 in Amsterdam and finished the job with a 4-1 home win.
They won 5, drew 1 and lost 2 of their league phase matches with both defeats coming away from home (at Lyon and Roma) in the later rounds.
In the Bundesliga Frankfurt are in third place although the gap to second placed Leverkusen stands at 14 points with Bayern a further 6 points better off.
The Verdict
This should be a decent contest across both legs, Spurs look a little short in the match result market to me although on a going day they are perfectly capable of taking a first leg lead. I'm with the Sportingbet price boost for strikers Solanke and Ekitike to both register 2 or more shots on target.
Bets: Solanke and Ekitike to both have over 1.5 shots on target at 13/2 with Sportingbet
