TOULOUSE v EXETER
Posted 11h28 14 April
The handicap on this game has been stable all week with it edging up from -21.5 to -22.5 in the last 24 hours.
The points line is high at 59.5 but the points have flowed in all 3 quarters that took place yesterday and I am going to have an interest that we get another high scoring game.
BET: 3 units over 59.5 points at 9/10 at WSB
REBELS V HIGHLANDERS
Posted 12 April 15h17
This handicap is very much where I expected it to be and once again this is a game where I am battling to find inspiration in the handicaps.
The weather looks like being perfect and there is something about that Melbourne track that sees the points flow and at over 57.5 (it is 59.5 in places) I am going to get involved.
This bet would have arrived in the last 3 Rebels home games with have thrown up 61, 79 and 82 points respectively.
BET: 4 units over 57.5 points at 9/10 at WSB
HURRICANES V CHIEFS
Posted 12 April 15h05
I made the Hurricanes -1.5 for this game so in theory should be looking to the +1.5 available on the home team.
The truth is I just can’t make up my mind on the match result or the points line of 48.5. It seems low for these 2 attacking teams but there is rain about and I may well get involved closer to kick off.
At the end of the day I am expecting a close game and will bet accordingly.
BET: 2.5 units “Either team by 7 or less (incl draw)” at 13/10 at Sunbet
BET: 0.5 units the draw at 23/1 at Boylesports
NORTHAMPTON SAINTS V BULLS
Posted 08h30 12 April
I handicapped this game Saints -6.5 assuming strength v strength and taking into account travel and home ground advantage.
The handicap opened -2.5 Saints and that was firm until news broke that the Bulls left their Springboks at home.
The line is on the move and is out to -10.5 in places and as we discussed last night on THE HANDICAP the question is whether it has moved enough?
Personally I don’t think so and I expect this Saints team to gradually take control of the match and to win comfortably against a Bulls team that has had to play Leinster away, Lyon at home and now Saints away in successive weeks. That is a big ask even at full strength.
I expect this cap to start around -12.5 and as Oracle said on the show if like him you like the Bulls wait for just before kick-off to get the biggest plus.
BET: 5 units Saints -9.5 19/20 at WSB
LEINSTER V LA ROCHELLE
Posted 07h33 12 April
What a match up this is as the finalists from the last 2 years go head to head.
La Rochelle won both of those matches but based on home advantage and recent form I capped this Leinster -9.5. The line opened -6.5 and has gradually edged to the -8.5 currently on offer.
Credit to La Rochelle for coming back to beat the Stormers last week but I can’t shake this feeling they are not quite the same team that has won back to back titles.
Leinster will be out for revenge and I think they will get it.
BET: 5 units Leinster -8.5 at 19/20 at WSB
BORDEAUX V HARLEQUINS
Posted 07h20 12 April
I handicapped this game Bordeaux -22.5 so it is no surprise to me that the line has moved from -14.5 to the -17.5 generally on offer. What is a surprise is that it took so long to move.
Bordeaux are playing superb rugby and rolling them at home is a daunting task. Quins may well hang in early but I cannot look past a comfortable home win and suspect Quins could hoist the white flag at some point.
BET: 4 units Bordeaux -16.5 at 0.87/1 at Betxchange
WARATAHS V CRUSADERS
Posted 23h00 11 April
Both sides have been disappointing last season but the Crusaders showed in their last start they may be ready to get on track. They have a strong bench with returning All Blacks and I think they will get the job done against a Waratahs side that just hasn’t gelled this season – other than when they beat the Crusaders in round 2 that is.
The handicap has been stable all week and although I think the Waratahs can give some cheek early I expect a double figure win from the Crusaders.
The points line of 54.5 is also tempting but I am going to sleep on that one and will post in the forum if I play.
BET: 4 units Crusaders -9.5 at 87/100 at Pokerbet
MOANA PASIFIKA V REDS
Posted 22h50 11 April
I handicapped this game Moana +19.5 so it is no surprise to me to see money coming for the Reds.
The line opened Reds 14.5 in SA and there is still some of that available with it shifting to 15.5 at some bookmakers.
Moana started the season well but appear to be fading fast and this Reds side can take advantage.
I was looking at the points line of 60.5 with a view on an overs play and the weather forecast I have looked at suggests the early rain will have passed but I will wait till closer to kick off before getting involved.
BET: 3 units Reds -14.5 at 9/10 at Boylesports*
