Race 1 

SPIRITRIX was an impressive winner on debut over 1000m on this course. She was slow into stride, ran on strongly and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of Vercingetorix could be anything and she can remain unbeaten.

TINA LOVELACE ran a fair race in the Grade 3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes last time. She was reported to be uncomfortable behind that day. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

EIGHT HATS was running on too late when second over 1000m at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Hat Puntano will love the extra 160m on offer. She is a progressive type and can go one better.

Race 2

CHARMING CHEETAH stayed on when third over this C&D in the Grade 2 TAB SA Nursery last time. It must be noted that Green Diamond has come out and won again since. The son of New Predator has class about him and he may be the one to beat.

TIN PAN ALLEY lacked a strong finish in the Grade 3 TAB Protea Stakes last time. He won a good race on debut over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and he is one of the leading contenders.

ZALATORIS was an easy winner on debut over 1200m on the Inside course. The son of Erik The Red takes on stronger, but he could be anything and may be up to the task at hand.

Race 3

XENOPHON is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Sean Tarry stable with Richard Fourie booked to ride. He is related to multiple winners including Dreamland and Dreamworld. If not in need of this outing, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

SOHO HEARTTHROB produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. He took the lead at the 200m mark before getting caught late by War Of Kingdoms who has come out and won again since. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better.

LAVA COUNTY showed speed over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Tin Pan Alley. The son of Erupt is a progressive type and may have more to come.

Race 4

PARISIAN WALKWAY is better than his last start in the Grade 1 TAB SA Derby as he was reported to have choked up. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia. On best form shown, he should be too good for this field.

TAMARISK TREE is a winner of his last three starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and is one of the leading contenders.

NAVAJO NATION ran a fair race when fourth in the Grade 2 TAB Colorado King Stakes last time. He finished 0.2 lengths behind SILENT WAR in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 5

THE ULTIMATE KING won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 1700m at the Vaal. He raced from a handy position, found a good kick and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He has been entered for the 2025 Hollywoodbets Durban July. The son of Vercingetorix has scope and he may be the one to beat.

FUTUREWOLFF found one too good in the form of Avoontoast last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from seven starts on this course. The 5yo gelding merits healthy respect.

PRETTY ANALIA has won her last two starts with ease. It must be noted that multiple horses from her last form line have come out and won since. She is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.

 

 

Race 6

MAIN DEFENDER is a winner of his last two starts. He produced a strong finish in the Grade 2 TAB Hawaii Stakes last time. He has won five times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He is drawn wide but Gavin Lerena knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

TRUTH’S last three starts have been good. He stayed on when third in the Grade 2 TAB Senor Santa Stakes last time. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Heavenly Blue may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

ATTICUS FINCH finished 0.3 lengths behind PURPLE PITCHER last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. From pole position, he cannot be ignored.

Race 7

ROYAL FORCE ran on well when winning over this C&D last time. The son of Heavenly Blue has shown that he has class about him. Piere Strydom retains the ride and from his good draw of two, he should take a power of beating.

IMMEDIATE EDGE is better than his last start in the Grade 1 TAB SA Derby. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He drops in trip and on previous form, he merits obvious consideration.

POTBERRIE has good form lines to his credit. Two of his three career victories have come over this C&D. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 8

MOUNT PINATUBO should have finished closer to the winner in the Non-Black Type Mythical Flight Sprint last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The son of Erupt won his only attempt over this C&D and he should go close.

DREAMLAND showed good speed over 1160m last time, before getting outrun late. Two of his six career victories have come over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

QUANTUM THEORY raced from just off the pace over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Dantonfromsandton. He finished 0.4 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. consideration.

Race 9

NIGHT VIGIL is better than her last start over 1200m. She won her only attempt over this C&D, in her penultimate run. If finding the form of that outing, she should notch up her fifth-career victory.

SIMPLY MAJESTIC is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Mythical Flight Sprint. She has dropped in the ratings and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

COSMIC QUEEN is better than her last start as she was reported to be coughing post-race. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She runs well for Gavin Lerena and will be at peak fitness.

Race 10

PHANTOM EXPRESS took the lead at the 250m mark last time before getting caught late. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from eight starts on this course. Her best form has come under Gavin Lerena and she should be competitive.

OMNIPOTENT was an easy winner of her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She takes on stronger, but has plenty of scope and she should be up to the task at hand.

MIST IN IRELAND ran on well when winning her last start over this distance on the Inside course. She finished 3.7 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
