RACE 1
HOUSE OF SUSSEX should have finished closer last time as he hung inwards in the closing stages. His penultimate run when second under Musa Ntunja, catches the eye. If keeping on a straight line, he may be the one to beat.
FANTASY GIRL was disappointing in her comeback run over 1200m on the polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She has finished second twice and third twice from six starts on this course. She gets the services of capable work rider Xola Jacobs and can find a form return.
TRILLION DREAMS showed some improvement in her last start over this distance on the polytrack. If confirming that effort, she should earn another cheque.
RACE 2
JUST ONE KISS is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Alan Greeff yard with Richard Fourie in the saddle. Her mother, Love Supreme was a two-time winner from 1400m to 1600m. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
DANISH DYNAMITE is a daughter of Erik The Red from the Gavin Smith stable with Craig Zackey doing duty. She is related to eight-time winner My Best Shot. If not too green in running, she should give a good account of herself.
SPORTS FAN has finished third in both her efforts to date. She returns from a 15-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. With racing experience on her side, she cannot be ignored.
RACE 3
WORDSWORTH challenged strongly over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Strata. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can go one better.
MUNCHKIN finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer. The son of Rafeef is one of the leading contenders.
SMASHING was a tad disappointing over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She won her local debut effort over this C&D. On her previous form, she should give the males a run for their money.
RACE 4
DUMISANI has been taking on stronger company in her last three starts. Her best form has come over this distance. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade takes a big drop in class and gets the services of in-form Jockey Malesela Katjedi. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
COURAGEOUS showed good improvement over 1400m on the polytrack, last week Friday. Richard Fourie retains the ride and if this run has not come too soon, she can go one better.
THREE CHEERS won her last start over 1900m on the polytrack, at long odds. She received a two-pound penalty for that victory. Luyolo Mxothwa retains the ride and if confirming her recent improvement, she should be involved.
RACE 5
LUNA HALO was doing her best work late when fifth over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She has won three times, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Fire Away is the best- weighted runner in this contest and she can return to winning ways.
GOLDEN PEACE won a good race in his local debut over 1400m on this course. He would have come on from the outing and is a solid back- up for the Alan Greeff stable.
CHEEKY LADDIE finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
Race 6
MS PATTY is unbeaten from two starts since arriving in the Eastern Cape. After losing a length leaving the gates last time, she finished strongly and got up where it matters most. She is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
STRATA was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1000m on the polytrack last time. She won her previous two efforts on this course. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HAVANA GREY was running on too late when second over 1000m on the polytrack last time. The daughter of Heavenly Blue is at her best over shorter, but cannot be discounted with Andrew Fortune in the irons.
RACE 7
ANOTHERDANCEFORME is unbeaten from three starts to date. She drew clear of the opposition with ease in the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is above average and she can remain unbeaten.
HOT SAUCE won a good race on debut over this C&D. She showed good pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. Richard Fourie sticks with the ride and she could be anything.
SILVA CITY found one too good in the Listed East Cape Nursery last time. The daughter of Global View is a filly with ability and she can finish in the placings.
RACE 8
MY BEST SHOT is the best bet on the programme. He finished strongly to win the Listed Bryanston Auctioneers East Cape Guineas last time. The son of Fire Away is the class horse in this contest. He should have no issues with the rise to 2400m and should take a power of beating.
LOTUS ISLAND is a winner of her last four starts. She was given a peach of a ride when winning the Listed East Cape Oaks last time. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 2400m. The daughter of Ideal World is a solid back-up for the Alan Greeff stable.
HONORABLE MEMBER finished 0.1 lengths behind the second selection last time. Marco van Rensburg is likely to use her early gate speed to overcome her awkward draw of nine. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can show
RACE 9
JUAN CARLOS ran a good race when second in the Non-Black Type Glenlair Trophy last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He finished 1.05 lengths behind PAINITE in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today which should be enough to turn the form around. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. From his good draw of three, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
HEART STEALER finished 0.05 lengths behind PAINITE last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
PAINITE was running on when fifth over 1900m on the polytrack last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. The son of Twice Over cannot be ignored
