West Ham 23/10 Draw 11/4 Chelsea evens
West Ham lost have lost both their home games so far, 2-1 to Villa and 3-1 to Man City. They did win a derby 2-0 at Palace and a trip to Fulham last time out ended all square at 1-1.
Chelsea started with a 2-0 home defeat to Man City before a second half onslaught saw them run out 6-2 winners at Wolves. They had to settle for a point when they were held (1-1) at home by Palace and last weekend they came away from Bournemouth with a 1-0 win.
The Verdict:
Chelsea's better performances have come away from Stamford Bridge whilst West Ham have yet to pick up a point in front of their own supporters. That tempted me towards going for Chelsea but it's still early days and the hosts have the players capable of improvement.
Cole Palmer to score any time is something of a fall back position.
Bets: Anytime goalscorer Cole Palmer at 16/10 with BoyleSports
Villa 0.57/1 Draw 33/10 Wolves 4.25/1
Villa have won 3 of their first 4 league games, at West Ham and Leicester, both by a 2-1 scoreline and last weekend they came from 2-0 down to beat Everton 3-2 at Villa Park. An earlier home game saw them go down 2-0 to Arsenal and in midweek they made a winning start to their UCL campaign, running out 3-0 winners away to Young Boys.
Wolves surrendered a half time lead in going down 2-1 at home to Newcastle last weekend. Their only point so far came in a 1-1 draw at Forest and earlier defeats came at home to Chelsea (6-2) and away at Arsenal (2-0).
The Verdict:
Villa have been a good watch and Wolves will need a fine performance to avoid defeat. Given the local derby factor the card's market is worth a second look and I'm with John McGinn to pick one up. He totalled 9 yellows and 1 red last season and has 1 so far in the current campaign.
Bets: Player to be shown a card, John McGinn at 3/1 with Sportingbet
Fulham 1.85/1 Draw 26/10 Newcastle 1.35/1
Fulham have 5 points from 4 matches with 4 goals scored and the same number conceded. Their only win so far came 2-1 at home to Leicester and last time out they drew 1-1 at home to West Ham. Earlier results include a 1-0 defeat away to Man United and a 1-1 draw at Ipswich.
Newcastle's come from behind 2-1 win at Wolves saw them finish Round 4 in third place, unbeaten with 3 wins and 1 draw. The draw came away to Bournemouth and they edged out Southampton and Spurs in earlier home games.
The Verdict:
Newcastle have staying power but Fulham are no mugs and it could be tight. Following 2-3 goals in t total regardless of the match result outcome would be paying dividends in matches involving both these teams and that is where I am heading.
Bets: Multigoals, 2-3 at 11/10 with Sportingbet
Leicester 1.55/1 Draw 24/10 Everton 17/10
Both these sides are looking for a first win, Leicester have 2 points after starting with a 1-1 draw at home to Spurs and most recently they drew 2-2 away to Palace. In between they lost at Fulham and at home to Villa (both 2-1).
Everton remain bottom of the standings without a point and they have coughed up 2-0 leads to lose 3-2 at home to Bournemouth and 3-2 at Villa in their 2 most recent outings. They also lost 3-0 at home to Brighton and 4-0 at Spurs and the alarm bells are ringing.
The Verdict:
Just how bad can things get for Everton? I wouldn't be confident they can stop the rot here and they have been short of regular starters in defence.
Leicester's Stephy Mavididi is a player I have plenty of time for and he should be a real handful for the visitors. He played the bulk of the game last week and got on the scoresheet, he should threaten again this week.
Bets: Anytime goalscorer Stephy Mavididi at 2.65/1 with BoyleSports
Liverpool 0.28/1 Draw 5.25/1 Bournemouth 8.75/1
Liverpool started with convincing wins at Ipswich and home to Brentford (both 2-0) prior to their 3-0 win at Man United. However they came unstuck against Forest last weekend, losing 1-0 at Anfield. Despite conceding early away to AC Milan in the UCL on Tuesday they recovered to win 3-1.
Bournemouth suffered a first defeat of the season, 1-0 at home to Chelsea last weekend. Prior to that an amazing late comeback in the 3-2 win at Everton was preceded by 1-1 draws away to Forest and at home to Newcastle.
The Verdict:
Liverpool's performance in the UCL in midweek suggests you can draw a line through the defeat to Forest and I'm following Alexander Arnold until he obliges for me in the any time market
Bets: Anytime goalscorer Alexander Arnold at 81/10 with BoyleSports
Southampton 5/4 Draw 5/2 Ipswich 2/1
Southampton have lost all 4 of their matches so far, scoring just the 1 goal and conceding 8. They went down 3-0 at home to Man United last weekend and one earlier home fixture saw them lose 1-0 to Forest. The only Saint's goal this season came in a 3-1 defeat at Brentford and they also lost 1-0 at Newcastle.
Ipswich have drawn their last 2 matches, 1-1 at home to Fulham and most recently a creditable 0-0 draw at Brighton. They started with defeats at home to Liverpool (2-0) and away to Man City (4-1).
The Verdict:
I'm going to take that view that if Ipswich can get a point away to what was an in form Brighton side their confidence should be high enough to believe this is winnable.
Bets: Match result away win at 2/1 with Sportingbet
Spurs 0.53/1 Draw 36/10 Brentford 9/2
Spurs have been coming in for criticism after taking just 4 points from 4 games. They lost the big derby 1-0 at home to Arsenal last weekend and their only win so far came in a 4-0 demolition of Everton in their only other home game.
Brentford made Man City work hard in a 2-1 defeat at The Etihad last weekend. An earlier road trip was also ultra tough and saw them go down 2-0 at Liverpool but they have won both their home games so far, against Palace (2-1) and Southampton 3-1).
The Verdict:
I really don't know what to make of Spurs right now and Brentford have performed with credit in 2 ultra tough roads trips so far, albeit in defeat. The visitors are short of strikers though with Wissa now on the injured list. I'll chance my arm with a Spurs win accompanied by a rare clean sheet.
Bets: Teams to score, Spurs only at 2.35/1 with BoyleSports
Palace 1.75/1 Draw 26/10 Man United 14/10
Palace have just the 2 points from their first 4 matches which were earned from draws in their last 2 outings, at Chelsea (1-1) and at home to Leicester (2-2). They began with defeats at Brentford (2-1) and at home to West Ham (2-0).
United have 2 wins and 2 defeats against their name. A 1-0 home win over Fulham on the opening weekend and last week's 3-0 victory at Southampton are the plus points and in between they suffered defeats at Brighton (2-1) and at home to Liverpool (3-0).
The Verdict:
Palace have been disappointing and they would have broken many a multiple bet in last week's draw at home to Leicester. Still, I'm open minded about this one and the fall back position is another 2-3 multi goal bet.
Bets: Multigoals, 2-3 at 11/10 with Sportingbet
