A reduced English Premier League coupon this weekend could see the title settled and we take a look at selected matches including Liverpool v Spurs
Prices from Sportingbet and others are correct at the time of publication but subject to change.
Chelsea 6/10 Draw 3/1 Everton 9/2 (Saturday)
This is the early kick off and a win for Chelsea would take them above fourth placed Forest on goal difference although fifth placed Newcastle are in action later on Saturday and Forest's next league outing comes in midweek. Chelsea have won 2 and drawn 2 of their last 4 league games. Most recently seeing off Fulham 2-1 away from home.
Everton are 13th although the gap to the team above them is a hefty 7 points. They went down 2-0 at home to Man City last week but they were 1-0 winners at Forest in their most recent road trip.
When the teams met at Goodison earlier in the season the game finished without a goal.
The Verdict
Cole Palmer hasn't scored a league goal for Chelsea since Game Week 21 but 2 assists in the last 4 signal a return to form and I'll nibble at his price boost to open the scoring here.
Bet: 1st Goalscorer Cole Palmer was 4/1 now 9/2 with Sportingbet
Newcastle 1 / 5 Draw 6/1 Ipswich 12/1 (Saturday)
Victory here for Newcastle would see them finish the weekend in third position and strengthen their hand in the race to qualify for the UCL next season. A fine run of form came to an end at Villa last Saturday when they crashed and burned 4-1. They have won each of their last 4 home games scoring a total of 15 goals.
There are still 15 points to play for and that is the gap between third bottom Ipswich and fourth bottom West Ham. Ipswich are also 20 worse off in the goal difference stakes and their race is surely run. They drew at Chelsea (2-2) recently but last weekend they lost 4-0 at home to Arsenal.
The Verdict
Newcastle won 4-0 at Portman Road earlier the season and many people will be expecting a similar scoreline here. I expect a spirited effort from Ipswich, albeit in defeat and I will go with a home win but with the visitors contributing to the scoring.
Bet: Newcastle to win and both teams to score? Yes at 1.55/1 with Sportingbet
Bournemouth 13/20 Draw 31/10 Man United 3.75/1 (Sunday)
Bournemouth are 8th and in the mix to qualify for Europa League action next season. They edged their most recent home game 1-0 against Fulham and that came either side of draws away to West Ham and Palace.
United are 14th and given only 2 points separates 13th to 17th it's feasible they could end the season fourth from bottom. The first leg of their Europa League semi final (away to Bilbao) is coming up on Thursday and has to be the main focus but just 1 point from their last 4 league games tells it's own story.
The Verdict
Bournemouth won 3-0 at Old Trafford earlier in the season and will be sensing an opportunity to complete the double over United. Semenyo is my go to man in the anytime g/s market.
Bet: Any time goalscorer Semenyo at 24/10 with Sportingbet
Liverpool 1 / 4 Draw 11/2 Spurs 17/2 (Sunday)
Officially Liverpool need a single point to secure the title and they will be keen to do so in front of their own supporters. They have dropped points in just 3 of 16 home fixtures (2 draws, 1 defeat) and they now take aim at Spurs whom they beat 6-3 in London in the first of this season's league meetings. The teams also met
in the EFL Cup semi's with Spurs winning the first leg 1-0 at home only for Liverpool to win the return 4-0.
Spurs in a similar position to Man United in terms of their league position and their aspirations of winning the Europa League to rescue a wretched campaign. They host Bodo Glimt on Thursday next week but EPL form is miserable with just 4 points earned from the last 21 available.
The Verdict
It ought to be a day of celebration and I expect Liverpool to seal the deal with a win. It's not the greatest of betting heats but I think there is every chance Trent Alexander Arnold will register a shot on target.
Bet: Player shots on target Alexander Arnold at 1.35/1 with Sportingbet
