Betting tips for selected English Premier League matches taking place over the weekend 12th, 13th April including Manchester City v Crystal Palace, Liverpool v West Ham and Newcastle v Manchester United
Prices from Sportingbet and others are correct at the time of publication but subject to change.
Man City 5/10 Draw 36/10 Crystal Palace 4.75/1 (Saturday)
City played out a drab 0-0 draw against United and last week's Manchester derby and finished the round in sixth place, 1 point behind Newcastle and Chelsea who are fifth and fourth. They were 2-0 winners at home to Leicester in their most recent home game, Haaland is not expected back from injury until early May and it's now all about UCL qualification for next season and an the FA Cup semi final date with Forest at the end of the month.
Palace are also in the semi finals of the FA Cup and they will come up against Villa later in the month. They have also taken 13 points from their last 5 league games, most recently coming out on top at home to Brighton 2-1 where they finished the game with 9 men to Brighton's 10. Palace are just below half way in the standings and they will be without key defender Guehi and striker Nketiah through suspension.
The Verdict
The first meeting this season finished 2-2 at Selhurst Park and I'm looking for 4 goals or more again here.
Bet: Total goals over 3.5 at 1.32/1 with Betway
Notts Forest 11/10 Draw 9/4 Everton 27/10 (Saturday)
Forest lost 2-1 at Villa last week but they remain in third place, 5 points behind Arsenal and 4 better off than Chelsea and Newcastle. They have won 9 of 15 home games, drawing 4 and losing 2 and Newcastle were the last team to beat Forest at the City Ground and that came back in November.
Everton drew 1-1 at home to Arsenal last time out, a sixth score draw in their last 8 league games. Their only defeat in the last 11 league games came in their most recent road trip at Liverpool (1-0).
The Verdict
Forest won 2-0 at Goodison in late December but Everton are much more resilient these days and the home side have a couple of injury doubts in their attacking ranks. I'm with 1-2 goals in total.
Bet: Multi goals 1-2 at 19/20 with Betway
Arsenal 6/10 Draw 31/10 Brentford 4.25/1 (Saturday)
Arsenal's draw at Everton and Liverpool's defeat at Fulham saw the gap between first and second shaved by a point but the Gunners still have a deficit of 11 points, surely too much. Their excellent 3-0 home win over Real in the UCL in midweek sees them really well placed to reach the semi finals with the second leg in Madrid due in midweek. Key defender Gabriel is out injured.
Brentford's last 6 league games have delivered 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats. They are just below half way in the standings as they prepare to take on Arsenal who beat them 3-1 in the first league meeting this season.
The Verdict
Will Arsenal have their minds on the trip to Madrid? Perhaps but I still fancy the feel good factor from midweek will see them in the goals.
Bet: Arsenal multi goal, 2-3 at 11/10 with Sportingbet
Liverpool 1 / 3 Draw 4.75/1 West Ham 15/2 (Sunday)
Liverpool were way below par in last week's 3-2 defeat at Fulham but the gap of 11 points with just 7 rounds of matches remaining is surely plenty. That was just the second league defeat of the campaign and they thumped West Ham 5-0 in London in December.
West Ham are 4 without a win, 2 draws and 2 defeats. They have won Arsenal this season but have failed to build on that and their last 2 road trips finished 1-1 at Everton and they went down 1-0 at Wolves.
The Verdict
Salah has signed a new contract with Liverpool and will want to bounce back to his best. I think Liverpool will get the job done but give West Ham a shout of contributing to the scoring.
Bet: Liverpool to win and both teams to score? Yes at 17/10 with Sportingbet
Newcastle 13/20 Draw 31/10 Man United 38/10 (Sunday)
As it stands Newcastle's current position of fifth would see them in the UCL this season but they do have the likes of City and Villa on their heels. Since losing 2-0 at Liverpool in late Feb they have won 3 successive league games and banked the EFL Cup. Newcastle were 2-0 winners when the teams met in Manchester earlier in the season.
United's focus is on the Europa League and they will head into the second leg of their quarter final match up with Lyon at Old Trafford in midweek all square at 2-2. They haven't scored in their last 2 league games, a 1-0 defeat at Forest and the 0-0 draw in the derby with City and are 13th in the standings.
The Verdict
Newcastle's sole focus is on the league and that is reflected in the match result odds. I'm with another home win with both teams scoring.
Bet: Newcastle to win and both teams to score? Yes at 9/4 with Sportingbet
