The PGA Tour returns for the third of eight signature events and remains on the West Coast as the Genesis takes place at the Riviera Country Club, Los Angeles.
The Course
Located 36km west of Downtown Los Angeles, Riviera Country Club sits under 4km from the coastline. Riviera is a tight course lined with trees and demanding rough. The course has a number of doglegs and tends to favour right-handed faders of the ball or left-handed drawers. The greens were ranked the fourth largest on average on tour in 2023. Conditions are expected to be calm for the first two days with rain rolling in over the weekend. The par 71 plays 7,322 yards and good ball striking will be essential all weekend.

World number 1, Scottie Scheffler is favourite again to win at 7/1 after an impressive 3rd place finish last week. Rory McIlroy returns to the PGA Tour this week and the bookies have him as the 2nd favourite at 12/1. After Rory are Viktor Hovland at 16/1 and Xander Schauffele at 18/1.

He already has a Ryder Cup as well as a PGA Tour victory under his belt and will look to add many more over the course of his career. With a runner-up and 9th place finish in his last 2 starts, Aberg will surely be out to win or be in contention. This is Aberg’s first appearance at the Genesis Invitational.

The American has had an impressive start to his 2024 season. During his 4 starts, he has finished in the top 10 on 3 occasions. Burns missed the cut on his last 2 appearances at the Genesis and will look to use his momentum to bounce back from those performances.

Max Homa at 20/1
Homa is no stranger to Riviera, he has placed 2nd, 10th, 1st, and 5th in his last 4 starts at the Genesis Invitational. Homa had a disappointing week last week in Phoenix after missing the cut, but will be looking to use his knowledge and experience of the course to bounce back.
