This week, the PGA Tour travels up the coast of California for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and we take a look at it from a betting angle.

WSB Logo Orange 80x80The tournament will be played over two courses for the first 36 holes, while the last 36 holes will be played at Pebble Beach. The Pro-Am tournament will be played until Friday, leaving only the professionals to compete on the weekend.

THE COURSES

Pebble Beach

One of the most famous public courses in the world, Pebble Beach is no easy play. Known for having the smallest greens on the PGA Tour, with thick demanding rough throughout the course, an accurate game is essential. Home to some of the most famous holes in golf, 9 of the 18 holes lie on the edge of the cliffs and open to the elements of the ocean. The weather will play a role this weekend, with rain and wind expected for 3 of the 4 days. Sunday’s weather will be the worst with winds reaching up to 61km/h. The par 72 plays to 6,972 yards.

Spyglass Hill

Spyglass Hill will only be played on the first two days. Although the course will only be played once by the players, this doesn’t mean easy scoring. Spyglass is one of the toughest courses on the tour. Known for its elevated greens and steep climbs, players will be forced to bring their A-game. A little longer than Pebble, the par 72 plays to 7,041 yards.

Market Leaders

The bookies have both number 1 (Scottie Scheffler) and number 2 (Rory Mcilroy) in the world as favourites to win at 17/2. Both have been on brilliant runs of form and are undoubtedly worthy market leaders. Following behind them is the Norwegian youngster, Victor Hovland at 14/1.

Selections:

Rory McIlroy at 17/2

After a brilliant start to the season on the DP World Tour with a runner-up and win in his first 2 starts, Rory returns to the States to start his PGA Tour season. The 4-time major winner will go into this week carrying the momentum of his last 2 performances. This is the first time since 2018 that Rory will be playing the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Suggested bet: To win at 17/2

Jordan Spieth at 18/1

The American is no stranger to the AT&T, looking to win the tournament for a second time (won in 2017). Jordan has managed to secure another 3 top 5 finishes as well as another 2 top 10 finishes over his last 10 starts at the tournament. Spieth managed to finish 3rd three weeks ago at The Sentry, only losing out by 2 shots and I expect him to go close in a tournament he really enjoys.

Suggested bet: each way at 18/1.

Jason Day at 66/1

An outside shout, however, Day has the most impressive record at the AT&T over the last 9 years. In that time, he has managed 5 top 5 finishes and has only finished worse than 11th on 1 occasion. Day may be an outside shot for the win, however, I am backing him to continue his strong record and to finish within the top 10, as he so often does.

Suggested bet: Top 10 finish at 7/2
