WSB Logo Orange 80x80The PGA Tour returns from Hawaii as The American Express takes place in the state of California. This week’s tournament will take place over three courses, Dye’s Stadium Course, The Nicklaus Tournament Course (both located at PGA West) and La Quinta Country Club.

THE COURSES

Dye's Stadium Course is probably the most difficult of this week’s three courses, this is due to the large hazards and abundance of water features. The Nicklaus designed Tournament Course which is also part of PGA West plays a little easier and is known to be a course that favours a ‘ball striker’. The easiest of the three courses, La Quinta, is known to be a low scoring course on tour.

The tournament incorporates a 54-hole pro-am running from Thursday to Saturday because of this, the courses are set up slightly easier to accommodate the non-professional golfers. All three courses play as par 72s. The rough will not be an issue at any of the courses.

On Sunday the players will return to the Stadium course where they will battle out for top spot.

Selections:

JT Poston each way at 28/1

After an impressive start to his season, the American will be looking to finally push over the line and secure a win. JT has finishes 6th and 5th respectively in his first two starts to the year. He will know what to expect as he has played in The American Express for 7 years running.

Chris Kirk each way at 45/1

Kirk got off to a brilliant start of the season with a win at The Sentry two weeks ago. At last year’s American Express, Kirk was only two shots from the top spot and managed to finish 3rd. The American will be someone others will have to look out for this week.

Scottie Scheffler win only at 13/2

There is never a week where the world number 1 is not in contention. Finishing 5th last week and winning his last tournament of 2023, Scheffler will seek to add another title to his impressive list. The American has finished in the top 25 in his last 4 starts at the American Express, one of them being a 3rd place finish in 2020.

Wyndham Clark at 40/1

Last years U.S. Open winner will be looking for a strong start to the 2024 season by adding a third PGA Tour title to his name. Finishing 29th in his last PGA Tour start, he will want to put together a more dominant performance this coming week and he certainly has the game to do so.
