The DP World Tour springs back into action this week with the Dubai Invitational taking place at the Dubai Creek Resort. We take a look at the Tournament from a betting angle.
This is a new event and sees 60 pros teeing it up with 60 amateur golfers. Similar to other pro-ams around the World the amateurs will be involved for the first 3 days and it will be over to the professionals on Sunday.
THE COURSE
The Championship course at the Dubai Creek Resort is a par 71 and you have to go back over 20 years when it was last used on the then European Tour. There is a lot of water for players to contend with and with the weather looking good, firing at the pins and a hot putter is likely to be required.
BETTING
A strong field has assembled with Rory Mcilroy topping the betting boards at 5/2 ahead of Tommy Fleetwood at 6/1, you can get 10/1 Hojgaard and 14/1 and better the balance.

This certainly looks a tricky betting event with no course form to go on and very little recent form as well as a number of players are coming off long breaks.
Rory McIlroy certainly looks a worthy favourite, but he returns from a long layoff and although very consistent doesn’t get across the line as often as he used to.
Fleetwood finished just inside the Top 50 at the Century last week and he may need another event or two to shake off the festive season feeling.
SELECTIONS:
Adrian Meronk each way at 14/1
Meronk finished 2023 in good form with a Top 10 and a Top 15 either side some mid-field finishes. Meronk has a strong record in the desert.
Thriston Lawrence each way at 33/1
It feels good to throw a South African into the mix again and Lawrence certainly showed good form towards the end of 2023 with four consecutive Top 15 finishes including a Top 5. The South African doesn’t have the best of records playing in the Gulf States, but he has put in some good performances and if he can carry last year’s form forward, he can be a big runner.
Marcel Siem each way at 50/1
The field certainly does have a top heavy feel to it and nothing really jumps out at me as far as outsiders go. Siem though finished the year strong with 2 Top 20’s in his last 3 starts. Although he doesn’t have a lot of strong recent form in the Gulf States he is a player who I am expecting to go well in 2024.
Adri Arnaus each way at 150/1
Arnaus had some relatively solid form in 2023, but it is his form in the Gulf States that catches the eye and although he is wildly inconsistent he has had 3 Top 10’s and a Top 15 in his last 7 starts in this part of the world. That is enough to get him into the staking plan.
