The final action of the South African domestic season takes place at Loftus Versfeld this weekend with the Nedbank Cup Final between Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune. We take a look at the game from a betting angle.
ORLANDO PIRATES
Orlando Pirates booked their spot in the Final with a hard fought 2-1 extra time win over Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-finals. Their path to the last four had been anything but easy and they required penalties to beat Dondol Stars in the quarters and extra time to beat Venda in the Round of 16. They had opened their Nedbank account with a 2-0 away win over Cape Town All Stars in the Round of 32.
Pirates are unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions and secured 2nd spot in the PSL with a comfortable 4-0 away win over AmaZulu on the weekend.
SEKHUKHUNE
Sekhukhune also scraped through into the Final courtesy of a victory on penalties against Stellenbosch in the semis. They had previously seen off Chippa United 2-1 on the road in the quarters and had comfortable victories in the previous two rounds beating Cape Town Spurs 2-0 at home and Liver Brothers 6-0 at home in the Round of 16 and 32 respectively.
Sekhukhune wrapped up a successful League campaign finishing 7th by beating SuperSport 1-0 on the road on the weekend and they have only lost 1 of their last 11 matches across all competitions.
HEAD TO HEAD
These sides met twice in the PSL this season with a 1-1 draw at Pirates and Sekhukhune taking the victory 2-0 at home back in October of 2022.

Orlando Pirates 6/10
Draw 28/10
Sekhukhune United 5/1
Orlando Pirates have a great Cup pedigree and based on their League form I can’t argue the fact that they are favourites, but at the same time 5/1 just feels too big about a Sekhukhune United side that has been playing some great football.
South African knock-out matches can be notoriously tight and when you consider that the last 3 Pirates matches in this competition have gone to extra time and Sekhukhune semi-final went the distance, the draw at 28/10 looks a value play.
Suggested Bet: The Draw at 28/10
