WSB Logo Orange 80x80After a short break from racing, the F1 grid heads to the United States as we gear up for the Las Vegas Grand Prix which takes place at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit on Sunday.

Only three races remain on this year's calendar and it is make or break time for the drivers and teams. Verstappen had a brilliant last race, stretching his lead further in the Drivers’ Championship while McLaren managed to stay ahead in the Constructor’s Championship.

We look at this week's racing from a betting angle and share some plays.

PREVIOUS RACE (Brazil GP 2024)

The 2024 Brazil GP saw a calamity of errors come into play after heavy rainfall throughout the weekend. Lando Norris had a brilliant sprint qualifying and sprint race where he qualified second and finished first securing him points, however, his main race did not go according to plan and a superb Verstappen took the win and maximum points ahead of Esteban Ocon in 2nd and Pierre Gasly in 3rd.

DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Verstappen extended his lead atop of the Drivers’ Championship, 62 points clear of Lando Norris. He may be able to secure the Championship this weekend if he scores maximum points and Norris gets none. The bookies have Verstappen at 1.02 to win while Norris is trading at 17.00.

CONSTRUCTORS CHAMPIONSHIP

McLaren continue to lead the Constructor’s Championship and are 36 points clear of Ferrari. Red Bull managed to make some ground on Ferrari last weekend and are now only 13 points behind them. With both drivers contributing to the team's points each week, this year's Constructor’s Championship could come down to the final race. McLaren are trading at 1.16, Ferrari at 5.00 and Red Bull at 51.00.

VERDICT

Max Verstappen is already a seasoned driver in F1 winning two Drivers Championships in his career. He knows what it takes to secure a Championship when the pressure is on and knows that winning this weekend will get him close to sealing the deal. The momentum from Brazil should be enough for Verstappen to put his foot down and dominate this weekend at a track where he won last year. Oscar Piastri has hit a dip in form recently, not finishing on the podium in his last three races, however, he has managed to secure 7 podiums this season and this in only his second season in F1.

Piastri knows that putting in a good performance this weekend will be key if McLaren wants to hold on to their Constructors Championship chances and I am backing him to return to form with a top 3 finish.

Oscar Piastri podium finish at 3.75.
