There are 3 DSTV Premiership matches taking place on New Year’s Eve and we take a look at each of them from a betting angle.
A reminder that you can get Outright Betting on the PSL by clicking here although don’t expect to get a big price on Mamelodi Sundowns who are currently trading as 1/12 favourites.
Golden Arrows v Kaizer Chiefs – Click here to bet
Golden Arrows are currently sitting 8th on the log and in their last match they were 2-0 victors away at Maritzburg United. Overall at home this season they have only won 2 and drawn 3 of their 7 matches and they haven't won at home in their last 3 attempts.
Kaizer Chiefs are currently 4th on the log and have only lost 1 of their last 8 games. Prior to the break they beat Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates 1-0.
Kaizer Chiefs matches averaged 2.4 goals this season with 7 of the 13 games resulting in 3 goals or more being scored, while in Golden Arrows games only 4 of the 13 matches would have seen you collect a profit had you backed over 2.5 goals.
Arrows beat Chiefs 2-1 in this fixture last season. What interests me about the head-to-head clashes is that 3 of the last 4 games between the sides have been high scoring. I think Chiefs will do the business and they may be worth a bet at current odds of 29/20, but the punt I am going with here is over 2.5 goals.
Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 5/4
Richards Bay v Swallows – Click here to bet
Richards Bay have been the surprise package of the League and they currently sit 2nd behind Mamelodi Sundowns, all be it a distant 5 points adrift and having played a game more. Richards Bay haven't lost in their last 8 games with 4 draws and 4 victories and a 3-3 draw at Chippa last time out broke a run of 6 matches in which there had never been more than 1 goal scored.
Swallows are 14th on the log with only 1 win in their last 7 games. They are undefeated in their last 3 and drew 1-1 at SuperSport United last time out.
None of the 6 Richards Bay home matches have yet had 3 goals or more in them, while Swallows away games haven't been much better for overs backers with just 1 of the 6 games reaching the 3 goal mark.
I don’t think there is going to be much to choose between these sides with the obvious pick of under 2.5 goals a bit short at 4/9 I think the draw is the value here.
Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1
Sekhukhune United v AmaZulu – Click here to bet
Sekhukhune are currently second from bottom of the log in 15th position, but with only 1 win in their last 10 games. At home this season they have played 5, winning 2 and drawing 2.
AmaZulu are currently 7th on the log and undefeated in their last 4 games with 3 draws and a victory. Looking more closely at their away form they have played 6 games winning just 1, but drawing 4 and they are without a win in their last 4 away games.
Looking at the goals records of these sides, only 4 of the 13 AmaZulu games have had 3 goals or more in them while 3 of the 12 Sekhukhune games would have delivered you a profit had you backed over 2.5 goals.
Sekhukhune have only played 5 home matches this season and their record isn’t bad and I think they may be the value here at current odds and they did win this fixture 2-0 last season.
Suggested Bet: Sekhukhune win at 15/10
