Race 1
TYRCONNELL produced an encouraging comeback run after 45 weeks off the track. He raced from a handy position and stayed on nicely at the business end. The son of The United States would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he should be the horse to beat.
RYANS BOULEVARD ran a good race on debut over 1400m on the Standside course. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a threat.
KING‘S RANSOM was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The son of Danon Platina should love the extra distance on offer. If finding the form of his debut run, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 2
FRENCH IMPACT did not settle in the early stages of his last start and was reported to be cut into. He would have come on from the run and should strip a much fitter horse. The son of Danon Platina should have no issues with the rise to the mile and in this field, he can return to winning ways.
CHILLI MOON had excuses in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup last time. He finished 9.5 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
IGNATIUS ran a decent race in his last start before given a 14-week break. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He does have work to do at the weights but if fit, he should run a big race.
Race 3
STRANGE MAGIC finished 1 length behind SEA ANEMONE last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. She has won once and finished second three times from six starts on this course. The daughter of Erupt is versatile and can go one better.
SEA ANEMONE won a good race in her last start over 1600m on this course. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The 4yo filly meets similar company this afternoon and merits healthy respect.
ON THE HORIZON was an easy winner on debut over 1400m at the Vaal. She does take on much stronger today, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
Race 4
RAFFLES tried hard in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Perfect Witness. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He has finished third four times from as many starts on this course. He always gives of his best and can notch up his third career victory.
MILLAHUE finished 0.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
SUPREME DANCE took the lead at the 100m mark last time, but was caught late by Imperial Master. He has won twice and finished second three times from seven starts over this distance. He is having his peak run today and must be included in all bets.
Race 5
EVERY CLOUD won a good race over 2000m on this course last time. He set the pace that day, found another kick and won with ease. The son of Pathfork takes on stronger, but there are no other frontrunners which will suit him well. He will be allowed to dictate his own terms under 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo and may be hard to peg back.
TROIS TROIS QUATRE produced a strong finish when winning his last start over 2000m at the Vaal. The son of Rafeef is getting better with each run and can notch up the hat-trick.
CASTLE CORNER showed improvement in his comeback run last time. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. He takes a drop-in class and may be the one to cause the upset.
Race 6
MRS BROWNING ran a good race when second against male company over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She showed good pace, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Sun Blushed. The daughter of Rafeef would have come on from that run and will strip much fitter. Despite carrying top weight, she should be the horse to beat.
MISS DAISY returns from a 12-week break and is having her first run for the Tony Peter stable. The daughter of Crusade has plenty of class about her and on best form shown, she should have a say.
COLDHARDSTARE has good recent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts on this course. The daughter of What A Winter merits obvious inclusion.
Race 7
BARD OF AVON set the pace over 1400m at the Vaal last time and lasted long enough to get the better of Paton’s Tears. He has finished second twice and third twice from as many starts on this course. The son of Var would have come on from his stable debut and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, he can follow up.
SHELDON won a good race in his last start over 1000m on the Standside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is at his best over shorter, but is in a good space and merits respect.
QUANTUM THEORY challenged strongly in his last start over 1500m on this course, but found one too good in the form of Running Rifles. The son of Querari has no issues with the drop to 1200m and he must be included in all bets.
Race 8
READY TO CHARGE stayed on strongly when second in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes last time. His first two career outings were eye-catching. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is the best-weighted runner in this contest and he should take a power of beating.
CLIFF HANGER is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he changed stables and he was gelded. Gavin Lerena does duty and if fit, he should fight out the finish.
CAPSAICIN was an easy winner on debut over 1160m on the Standside course. He returns from a 15-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Canford Cliffs faces stronger, but he could be anything and may be up to the task at hand.
Race 9
CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT rallied late when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. He is holding his form very well and should notch up his tenth career victory
AUSSENKEHR‘S last three starts have been decent. He finished third in his only attempt on this course. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew and is a solid back up for the stable.
MOONSHININGTHROUGH finished 4.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 6kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 10
GOLDEN SICKLE finished 0.05 lengths behind ON CUE last time. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. She shows good speed in her races and may be hard to peg back under 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew.
ON CUE has good recent form lines to her credit. She took on slightly stronger in her last start over 1200m. The 5yo mare is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.
WINGS WITHIN ME followed up her debut victory with a good second-place finish over 1160m on the Standside course. She showed good speed, but was outrun late by Law Of Success. She has plenty of scope and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, she should be competitive
