Race 1

JOHN WICK showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He raced from a prominent position, but found one too good in the form of Mary’s Greenlight. The son of Pomodoro tries the blinkers which should keep his mind on the task at hand. Tshepiso Matsoele is booked to ride and he can shed his maiden tag.

BOB has produced two moderate efforts to date. He drops to the 1200m and gets the blinkers fitted. He gets the services of capable work rider Phelisile Mongqawa and in this field, he can show improvement.

HIGHVELD STORM is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Fabian Habib stable with Thomas Ncume in the saddle. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

SUGARY SWEET stayed on when fourth over 1160m at Turffontein last time. She meets the right field this afternoon and if putting her best foot forward, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

ALESIA’S LOVE has placed in her last four starts. She set the pace over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Boom Boom. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SOMEDAY MAYBE ran a good race when third over 1000m on the Classic course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If repeating that effort, she should be competitive.

Race 3

WILLOW’S WISH is better than his recent form suggests. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He continues to drop in the ratings and with Calvin Habib back in the saddle, he may be the one to beat.

TWIN TURBO finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

SUPREME DANCE finished 5.2 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. Three of his four career victories have come on this course and he cannot be ignored.

Race 4

AL BAYREG has shown improvement in each of his outings to date. He stayed on when third over 1600m on the Classic course last time. The gelding seems to have done the trick. The son of Silvano should love the rise to 1800m and from pole position, he can win.

JUDGEMENT DAY produced a promising debut effort over 1500m on the Classic course, in a work riders contest. The son of Just As Well would have come on from the run and if switching off early, he should be competitive.

TWENTY DRACHMA’S stayed on when third over 2000m on the Classic course last time. The 1800m should be right up his alley. He gets the services of 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo and should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

HOTARUBI was not disgraced when sixth against stronger company in his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts on this course. He will strip a much fitter horse and drops in class. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be the one to side with.

FULLY LOADED has good recent form lines to his credit. He has finished third five times from six starts on this course. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

ANGEL OF WAR showed signs of needing his comeback run over 1160m at Turffontein. He drops in class and should strip much fitter. On best form shown, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

RUNWAY BOMB is a winner of her last two starts. She moved up well over this distance at Turffontein last time and fought hard to hold all challengers at bay. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory and against similar company, she can notch up the hat-trick.

HIGH ROLLER ran on powerfully when winning her last start against male company. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. She takes a rise in class, but is in a good space and may be up to the task at hand.

WHAT A HONEY is better than her last start in the Listed Summer Pudding Handicap. She has won twice, finished second twice and third three times from eight starts on this course. On best form shown, she should earn a cheque for her patrons.

Race 7

LADY FALLON took on stronger in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (Fillies) last time. She was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over this distance at Turffontein in her penultimate run. The daughter of Act Of War has plenty of scope and she is the stable elect with Craig Zackey in the saddle. If getting away to a clean start, she may be the one to beat.

GRAPE SHOT was given a peach of a ride when winning her maiden at the second time of asking. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

QUANTUM ran on powerfully when winning her last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She would have come on from the run and can follow up.

Race 8

INVENTRIX stayed on when second over 1160m at Turffontein last time. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this distance. She always gives of her best and can notch up her third-career victory. She is carded to race on 25 November 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

NEERAH finished 0.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

SHAMPIMPI was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over 1200m on this course. She showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and it is encouraging that Gavin Lerena keeps faith in the ride.

Race 9

WHAT A TIGER finished 0.8 lengths behind LIFE GOES ON last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Denis Schwarz is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

LIFE GOES ON is a winner of his last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. He is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

BEADED GOWN showed good speed when winning her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is carded to race on 23 November 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored
