Race 1
DRESSEDTOTHENINES has improved in her last two starts with the blinkers fitted. She ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is likely to race on the speed from her good draw of two and may be hard to peg back.
QUENTASIA’S last two starts have been decent. She raced from a handy position over 1200m last time, but did not go on with the effort. The drop to 1000m may suit her well and the blinkers will sharpen her up. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HEAD GIRL showed good speed over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but found one too good in the form of Jane’s Vision. She is in a good space and can earn another cheque.
Race 2
SHOT OF COURAGE has good recent form lines to his credit. He showed pace over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Dontshootthebarman. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from six starts over this C&D. He jumps from pole position and may be rewarded for consistency.
ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA finished 2.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
TRAFALGAR SQUARE finished 3.5 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may battle to turn the form around.
Race 3
WONDERFUL showed some improvement in her last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The daughter of Global View is a progressive type and should love the rise to 1800m. She jumps from a good draw of two and with Calvin Habib retaining the ride, she should have more to come.
CHICHICASTENANGO showed very good improvement when fourth over 1600m on the turf last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The manner in which she finished off that outing suggests that she will love the extra furlong on offer. She has cracked a good draw of four and should fight out the finish.
DYMONDIA was a beaten favourite in her last start over 1900m on the turf. She finished second in her two previous efforts on this course. She tries the cheekpieces for the first time and with luck in running, she should go close to winning.
Race 4
HERMANUS SUNRISE showed some good improvement in her local debut effort over 1200m on the turf. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Pomodoro would have come on from the run and she should love the rise to 1700m. She carries a handy galloping mass of 55kgs and should give the males a run for their money.
FIREFLARE’S last three starts have been good. He lost a length leaving the start last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Futura should be the first male past the post.
KING’S ISLAND stayed on when second over 1600m on this course last time. If repeating that effort in this field, he should be competitive.
Race 5
ACTION STATIONS ran a good race when second in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of two. With the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba, he can notch up his fourth career victory.
JUSTFORTHEEPENNY has good consistent form lines to his name. His best form has been under Muzi Yeni and the combination merit healthy respect.
EVENTIDOR finished 0.8 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the wire.
Race 6
BANZAI PIPELINE ran on strongly when winning his last start over 1800m on this course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The 6yo gelding meets a similar line-up this afternoon and he can follow up.
BLAZING LIGHT finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the tables. He is likely to race on the speed and merits obvious inclusion.
PORFIRIO was his own worst enemy over 1600m on the turf last time as he over raced in the early stages. He has won twice and finished third twice from seven starts on this course. He tries the 1700m for the first time and if Tristan Godden is able to switch him off early, he should run a big race.
Race 7
SHAKEN NOT STIRRED is better than her last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Her form prior to that outing was consistent. She has finished second five times and third once from seven starts over this C&D. Sean Veale steps back into the saddle and she may be the one to side with.
FAIRY TRIPP won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She does take on stronger, but is lightly raced and has plenty of scope. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride once again.
POURSOMESUGARONME stayed on when fifth over 1400m on the turf last time. She finished second in her penultimate run over this C&D. If jumping on terms, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 8
SHELL SEEKER is much better than her last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. It is encouraging that Craig Zackey keeps faith in the ride and on best form shown, she can win a race of this nature.
JUST VIRGINIA set the pace over 1900m on this course last time and stayed on to finish fourth. She won her only attempt over this C&D. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
INGAKARA finished 0.65 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line
