Race 1 

FOREST GOD made the expected natural improvement when second in his last start over 1600m on the Inside course. He raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Two Miles West. The son of Silvano is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1800m. From his good draw of four, he should go one better.

KAROO GOLD should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the final 300m and had to be steadied late. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the son of Ideal World. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

TO THE RESCUE ran a good race when second over 2000m last time. He finished 0.8 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. The gelding may have done the trick and he cannot be ignored.

Race 2

VOLARE E MAMBO stayed on when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle tries the blinkers which should keep her mind on the task at hand. She is a progressive type and may be the one to side with.

ERUPT THE DAWN stayed on when second over 2000m on the Inside course last time. The daughter of Erupt should have no issues with the drop to 1800m and she is one of the leading contenders.

SAY IT WITH ROSES finished 0.05 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 3

TROIS TROIS QUATRE challenged strongly in his last start over 1800m on this course, but was touched off by Supreme Dance. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from five starts over this distance. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he can go one better here.

POORLITTLERICHGIRL stayed on when third over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course last time. That was her first effort with the tongue-tie fitted. The daughter of Dynasty is expected to give the males a run for their money.

JET DYNASTY finished 3.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. Piere Strydom takes the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 4

I AM GIANT ran on strongly to win his first start for the Hollywood Syndicate. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. He does take on stronger company this afternoon but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should be up to the task at hand.

BARTHOLDI produced a typical second run after a rest last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from as many starts over this distance. If all went well with his travels, he should be competitive.

COLD FACT stayed on when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. If not in need of the run, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 5

MARY’S GREENLIGHT was unlucky not to have won her last start as she had to be steadied in the latter stages. She finished 1.8 lengths behind FRANCES ETHEL that day. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight tries 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

SUKHUMVIT ran a good race in her last start after clipping heels at the 1300m mark. The daughter of Silvano is above average and with luck in running, she should pose a threat.

EXPLOSIVE BOND won a good race in the Listed TAB Spook Express Stakes last time. She is in top form and can notch up the hat-trick.

Race 6

EIFFEL TOWER is better than his last start as he raced wide around the turn and understandably lacked a finish in the straight. The son of Potala Palace is a small horse who has a big heart. He should love the rise to 2000m and from his good draw of two, he can notch up his fourth-career victory.

HAWKBILL has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He stayed on when third over this distance last time. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. VIVA BRAZIL finished 2.25 lengths behind

DUBAI HILLS last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He gets a change of headgear and the blinkers may do the trick.

Race 7

PRIME EXAMPLE was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position, showed a good turn of foot and won easier than the official margin suggests. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Canford Cliffs is clearly in a good space and he may be a stayer worth following for the season.

GOOD COUNCIL has finished second in his last three starts. He does have a wide draw to overcome and with luck in running, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BLACK THORN ran a fair race in the Grade 3 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. If all went well with his travels back to the Highveld, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

SILENT WAR raced from a handy position in the Listed Betway Wolf Power 1600 last time and tried hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that Silver Hills has come out and won again since. He takes on weaker opposition this afternoon and can return to winning ways.

TIRPITZ was a tad disappointing in his last start over this C&D. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

ZUZAN is better than his last start as he stumbled leaving the starting stalls. He won a good race in his penultimate start over this distance on the Inside course. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes 4kgs off his back which will assist his cause.

Race 9

ZEUS is a winner of his last two starts over 2400m on this course. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. Two of his ten career victories have come over this distance. He is in a very good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

SHOEMAKER was running on when fifth over this C&D last time. He finished 0.75 lengths behind LITIGATION that day. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he should pose a threat.

LITIGATION is a winner of his last two starts over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for his last victory. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
