Following the penultimate round of matches France topped the standings with 16 log points, 1 ahead of England (away to Wales earlier in the day and 2 better off than Ireland (away to Italy in the first match of the day). That means the destiny of the title is very much in their own hands and the outright markets have them trading at around 1/10 to be crowned champions.
In Round 4 the crucial match up with Ireland in Dublin saw France come away with a 42-27 victory in what the bookmakers had made near enough a choice game. They had their noses in front after a first half which had seen Les Bleus lose Dupont to a nasty looking injury but they pulled away in the second 40 minutes and scored a total of 5 tries including 2 more for Bielle-Biarrey.
Away to Italy in Round 3 France came away with a record score, 73-24. Les Bleus went into their Round 2 clash with England at Twickenham as favourites, however it was England who edged the contest 26-25 thanks to a late converted try. France thrashed Wales 43-0 in Paris in the opening round and this will be their first home fixture since then.

Scotland
Scotland are fourth with 11 points and a record of 2 wins and 2 defeats, 5 shy of France and they would need more than a miracle to catch France who's points difference is vastly superior to anyone else in the tournament.
In Round 4 Scotland beat Wales 35-29 at Murrayfield, a game they led 35-8 at one stage in the second half although they were never really in danger of coughing up the huge lead. Kinghorn and Jordan both bagged a brace of tries with Darcy Graham adding another and they landed a bonus point.
In earlier results the Scots were unfortunate not to win beat England at Twickenham. They eventually went down 16-15 but Finn Russell missed the conversion of a late Duhan van der Merwe try which would have given Scotland victory. A clash with Ireland at Murrayfield in Round 2 saw them beaten 32-18 and they opened their tournament with a 31-19 home win over Italy.
