Race 1

STAR MAJOR has finished second in both his efforts to date, the latest of which was over 1200m. He raced from just off the pace that day and tried hard all the way to the line. He will love the rise to 1400m and from pole position, he should be the one to beat. 

GOLD GIBOSKI raced from a prominent position over 1000m last time and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He should enjoy the extra distance on offer and is one of the leading contenders. 

NEW WORLD finished second over this C&D last time, with the blinkers fitted. Richard Fourie retains the ride and with a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he should be involved at the finish. 

Race 2

LOVE HER MADLY is better than her last start over 1000m. She would have come on from that outing and should strip much fitter. She jumps from pole position and gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies. If finding the form of her debut run, she can cause the upset. 

GOT THE LOOK‘S last two starts have been fair. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was held up from the 450m mark to the 250m mark. She will enjoy the extra distance on offer and with luck, she should pose a threat. 

SPLASH OF COLOUR made the expected natural improvement when third over this C&D last time. She is a progressive type and should have a say in the outcome of this contest. 

Race 3

OCTOBER STORM is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Vaughan Marshall stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. He is related to Grade 1 winners October Morn and Tempting Fate. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances. 

DIGBY is lightly raced with decent form lines to his name. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He is having his peak run and may be the first raced runner past the post. 

IKO IKO has finished second in his last two starts over this C&D. He is in a good space and must be considered. 

Race 4

RED CORAL showed very good improvement when fourth over 1200m last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She will strip much fitter and will love the rise to 1400m. The daughter of Rafeef is a progressive type and may be the horse to side with. 

MEG‘S LEGACY stayed on when third over this C&D last time. JP van der Merwe retains the ride from pole position, and she should have a say. 

TAYLOR‘S VERSION raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, before getting outrun late. She is a progressive type and from her good draw of two, she should run a big race. 

Race 5

The tentative first selection is HELIOTROPE from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable. She took the lead at the 250m mark last time, before getting outrun late by Sansa Stark. She is drawn widest of all, but gets the services of Andrew Fortune who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle. 

KWITE A KING finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. 

WOOD WORLD finished 2.45 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 6

UKUDUMA was given a peach of a ride when winning on debut over 1100m on this course. The daughter of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and she will love the rise to 1500m. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she should remain unbeaten. 

LOWVELD LILY made the natural improvement when winning her last start over 1200m. She finished 2.3 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The daughter of Legislate is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders. 

SHE‘S MY WORLD should have finished closer to the winner in the Listed Somerset 1200. The daughter of One World will enjoy the rise to 1500m and from her good draw of two, she would not be a shock winner. 

 

 

Race 7

DREAMWORLD showed good speed when winning the Grade 3 Winter Nursery over 1100m last time. The son of One World looks to have plenty of class. He steps up to 1500m from a good draw of two and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure once again. 

HAPPY VERSE is a winner of his last two starts, the latest over 1400m on this course. The son of Vercingetorix is a progressive type and looks to have plenty of ability. Andrew Fortune knows him well and he is one of the leading contenders. 

ABSOLUTELY YES fought hard when winning the Listed Somerset 1200 last time. He steps up to 1500m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can finish in the money. 

Race 8

MIRACULOUS has good consistent form lines to her credit. She stayed on to finish third over 1200m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She steps up to 1600m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be rewarded for consistency. 

KAMCHATKA raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Russian Royal. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Apprentice Brevan Plaatjies takes the 2.5kgs off her back which will assist her cause. 

MY ONLY WEAKNESS finished 1.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. 

Race 9

RIKKITIKKITAVI made the expected natural improvement when winning her maiden over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Querari takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand. 

OCTOBER FEST ran a fair race over this C&D last time. She lost a length leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should pose a threat. 

SHESGOTCLASS finished 0.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. 

Race 10

SAINT BRIGID ran on strongly when second over 1400m last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Aldo Domeyer retains the ride and she will be mowing down the frontrunners. 

EASY MONEY was caught late when second over this C&D last time. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies retains the ride and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

BECKY SHARP finished 1.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. 

Race 11

DEAN STREET has shown signs of needing his last two starts after returning from a 17-week break. Two of his six career victories have come over this distance. Luyolo Mxothwa knows him well and the combination should be hard to peg back. 

MISS WORLD showed good speed over 1200m last time, before getting caught late by Trip To Maputo. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.

I’M SO PRITTI ran on powerfully when winning the Listed SABC Olympic Duel Stakes last time. She returns from a well-deserved 21-week break. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself
