Race 1 

ARCTIC VIXEN showed massive improvement in her last start over 1450m on this course. She raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Vercingetorix will love the rise to 1800m and she may have more to come.

TEO TORRIATTE ran a good race when second over 1600m last time. She stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Kakiebos. If confirming her recent improvement, she should be one of the leading contenders.

PLAY WITH FIRE’S last three starts have been decent. It is interesting that the blinkers have been removed but in this field, she is capable of fighting out the finish. 

Race 2

SEA SHANTY showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He was still green in running and stayed on at the business end. The son of Lance is a progressive type and with Philasande Mxoli retaining the ride, he can shed his maiden tag.

SMASHING is better than her last start as the saddle was reported to have slipped. Her first two career outings were encouraging. Apprentice Siyanda Sosibo steps back into the saddle and she should give the males a run for their money.

SAKHALA IS’CATHULO showed massive improvement in his last start over this C&D. He showed good speed, but was caught late by Coppola. It is interesting that the blinkers have been removed but he is in a good space and cannot be ignored.

Race 3

ARTICUNO’S last outing before the 31-week break was decent. She would have strengthened up during her time off the track. The daughter of Vercingetorix doesn’t meet a strong field and if not in need of the run, she can shed her maiden tag.

THING CALLED LOVE is better than her last start as she was reported to be fatigued post race. The 27-week break may have done her the world of good. She has plenty of scope and should have improvement to come.

FEATHER DANCER showed very good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She stayed on at the finish that day. The daughter of Vercingetorix is having her peak run and she can finish in the placings.

Race 4

PROFESSOR SNAPE ran a creditable race in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He takes a drop-in class and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, he can return to winning ways.

ABSOLUTE VALUE is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 2850m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The 5yo gelding can notch up the hat-trick.

BATTLEGROUND finished 0.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. PO

Race 5

ARIEL’S JET stayed on at the finish over 1800m at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Witblits who has come out and won again since. She jumps from a mid-field draw of seven and may be the one to side with.

UNIVERSAL LOVE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She won her only attempt on this course. The daughter of Ideal World gets a change of headgear which may do the trick.

THREE STRANDS has consistent recent form lines to her name. She has won once and finished second once from five starts on this course. The daughter of Futura will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 6

ICE STAR raced from just off the pace over 1100m at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Power Broker. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 4kgs off her back and she may be rewarded for consistency.

VIRGINIA BEACH showed good speed over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Troppo Veloce. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MYTHICAL DREAM has found a form return in her last two starts. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The blinkers may do the trick on the daughter of Querari and she can feature.

Race 7

EMPRESS GAME ran a decent race when fourth against male company over this distance last time. It must be noted that What A Tiger has come out and won again since. She finished 2.8 lengths behind NETTLETON in her penultimate run. She is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Pathfork will be mowing down the frontrunners.

NETTLETON got up late to win her last start over 1200m on this course. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

WAR QUEEN tried hard in her last start over this C&D, but found one too good in the form of Happy Analia. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 8

MAJESTIC PALACE won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this distance last time. He set the pace and found more where it matters most to hold all challengers at bay. He does take on stronger, but has scope and may be up to the task at hand. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and he will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

COLORADO CREEK stayed on when sixth over this distance at Turffontein last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

ROYAL EDITION took on a competitive field in his last start over 1700m. He won his only attempt on this course, three runs ago. With luck in running, he can finish in the placings
