Race 1
This is a weak Conditional Maiden and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SMASHING from the Clinton Binda stable. She raced from a prominent position over this distance at Turffontein last time and stayed on to finish third. She is the form horse in this contest and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
WORLD PHAROAH’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. The son of Erupt has plenty of scope and should be the first male past the post.
TOTHESTARSANDBACK ran a fair race over 1200m on this course last time. She has finished third over this distance previously. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and may be the one to cause the upset.
Race 2
TERMINAL VELOCITY produced an encouraging debut effort over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She was green in running, but the manner in which she finished off her race that day caught the eye. The daughter of Global View would have gained from the experience and should love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.
SAUDI SWEEP has produced two decent fourth-place finishes to date. The daughter of Pomodoro will love the extra furlong on offer and if this run has not come too soon, she should pose a massive threat.
LIGHTINTHEDARKNESS ran a fair race over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She is bred to enjoy the rise to 1400m and from her good draw of two, she can finish in the placings.
Race 3
DYNASTY’S LAST finished 1.3 lengths behind ELUSIVE BELLE last time. She is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and with a bit of luck from her awkward draw of eight, she can shed her maiden tag.
ELUSIVE BELLE should have won her last start as she hung outwards between the 400m mark and 200m mark. If keeping on a straight line, she should be involved at the finish.
NOVEMBER BOOGIE showed good improvement in her first run for the Frikkie Greyling stable. She tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be hard to peg back.
Race 4
IDEAL GIFT stayed on when 3.55 lengths behind the winner over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She won a good race over 1700m on this course in her penultimate run. The daughter of Ideal World has cracked a good draw of three and she can notch up her fifth-career victory.
TRUE LOVE’S KISS finished 1.9 lengths behind WOODLAND GLADE last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is the stable elect with Serino Moodley up and is one of the leading contenders.
WOODLAND GLADE was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She is drawn widest of all but gets the services of S’manga Khumalo who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 5
EVENTIDOR has consistent form lines to his credit. He lost a length over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. If getting away to a clean start, he can return to winning ways.
ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD finished 1.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result. He will enjoy the rise to 1900m and merits healthy respect.
LUCRETIUS is better than his last start on KZN Breeders race day. He finished 0.3 lengths behind BLAZING LIGHT in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 6
KHANYISA INDLELA ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is the stable elect with Athandiwe Mgudlwa retaining the ride and he can follow up.
MOYA WA LALIGA stayed on when second over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He finished 0.05 lengths behind PREEMPTIVE STRIKE in his penultimate run. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
PREEMPTIVE STRIKE stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He jumps from pole position and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 7
BENNI IN THE AREA finished 1.05 lengths behind IMAGINABLE last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of William Longsword is likely to have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back.
IMAGINABLE won a good race over this C&D last time. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. With a bit of luck in running, he can follow up with another victory.
PORFIRIO has good recent form lines to his credit. He has won three times and finished third once from seven starts over this distance. He always gives of his best and cannot be ignored.
Race 8
DISCERNING should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards in the final 400m. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. The daughter of Querari is the stable elect with Tristan Godden up and with luck in running, she should give her older rivals a run for their money.
HEREINAFTER is a winner of her last three starts over this distance. She does carry top weight but is in a good space and may be hard to peg back.
SWEET JULIA finished 1.3 lengths behind VISION OF WILL last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck in running, she should fight out the finish
