Race 1

AVERNIAN GODDESS is one of the better bets on the card. She set the pace over 1400m last time, but was outrun late by Spirit Of Levana. The daughter of Vercingetorix should have no issues with the drop to 1200m and in this field, she should be the one to beat.

SWEET DREAMER is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Glen Kotzen stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She is related to eleven- time winner Cruise Control. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

UBUKHWEBEZANA has run two fair races for the MJ Odendaal stable. She is having her peak run today but interestingly drops to 1200m. With a bit of luck in running, she can finish in the placings in this line-up.

Race 2

VHAGAR produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course, three weeks ago. He lost a length leaving the start but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Danon Platina found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He will love the rise to 1400m and can improve to win.

FRENCH FLAME challenged strongly when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. The son of Fire Away is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

JAMES FITZJAMES showed good improvement when second in his last start over 1600m on the polytrack. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is a progressive type and if keeping on a straight line, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first choice is TAXHAVEN from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. He raced from a handy position over 2000m at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Strewn Sky. His effort when fifth in the Grade 1 TAB SA Derby catches the eye. If finding the form of that run, he should be too good for this field.

FIRE FORCE’S last two starts have been moderate. The son of Mambo In Seattle should love the rise to 2200m and it is encouraging that Richard Fourie keeps faith in the ride.

GIJIMA MFANA ran a good race when second in his last start over 2000m on the Polytrack. The fitting of the blinkers seems to have done the trick. If confirming his recent improvement, he may be hard to peg back at the finish.

Race 4

DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE returns from a 20-week break. He was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met under UK-based Jockey, Daniel Muscutt last time. This outing will bring him on nicely for the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July. He is the class horse in this contest and should find himself back in the winner’s enclosure.

TRIPLE TIME is the stable companion of the top choice. He has finished second in his last three starts. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he is a solid back-up for the stable.

LADY HEIST has very good consistent form lines to her name. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs which will assist her cause.

Race 5

KINDRED HEART showed good speed in the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Championship last time but did not go on with the effort. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Erupt takes on older rivals but carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs. If not too green around the turn, she may be hard to peg back.

PRITTI VICTORY is a winner of her last two starts at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The daughter of Vercingetorix is on the up and she can notch up the hat- trick.

ICESTAR hails from the visiting Fabian Habib stable. She is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this distance. If all went well with her travels, she should be right there at the finish.

Race 6

This is a competitive field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ARAGOSTA from the Mike de Kock stable. He finished 1.6 lengths behind ONE WAY TRAFFIC last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is a horse with ability and on best form shown, he can return to winning ways.

FUTURE PEARL is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Colorado King Stakes. He has won twice from three starts on this course. He runs well at this time of the year and should find a form return with Richard Fourie back in the saddle.

WITHOUT QUESTION should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung inwards in the final 350m. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He will strip a much fitter horse today and with luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 7

MY SOUL MATE is the best bet on the programme. She was not disgraced when fifth in the Grade 1 tabGOLD Woolavington 2000 last time. Despite racing wide in the early stages, the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is the best-weighted runner in this contest and from pole position, she should take a power of beating.

SAARTJIE finished 2.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. This is her peak run and if putting her best foot forward, she should feature.

FUTURE GIRL had excuses in her last outing. She ran a good race when second in the Listed KRA East Coast Cup in her penultimate run. The daughter of Futura should have no issues with the rise to 2400m and she can finish in the placings.

Race 8

PACHE SON followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. The manner in which he ran on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of The Apache has ability and from his good draw of four, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

ROSH KEDESH should have won his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. He is having his peak run and with Craig Zackey back in the saddle, he should pose a threat.

MAX THE OTTER has fair recent form lines to his credit. He will enjoy the rise to 1400m. If all went well with his travels, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 9

KAILENE’S last three starts have been fair. She was squeezed leaving the start last time and stayed on at the finish. She has won once and finished second three times from six starts over this C&D. The daughter of Jackson takes a drop in class and from pole position, she can notch up her fourth-career victory.

POURSOMESUGARONME has good recent form lines to her name. She has won once, finished second twice and third three times from nine starts over this distance. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and she merits healthy respect.

NELLIE MELBA got up late when winning her last start over this distance on the polytrack. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and she can go close once again
