RACE 1
NIKES RAY OF LIGHT should have finished closer to the winner last time as the saddle was reported to have slipped in running. The son of Red Ray should be ideally suited to 1100m. Luyolo Mxothwa is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
CONNECTION is the stable companion of the top choice. He should have finished closer last time as he hung inwards in the closing stages. He will strip a much fitter horse and is a solid back-up for the Smith stable.
WINNING CAPTAIN showed improvement in his first run for the Jacques Strydom stable. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If suited to the polytrack, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 2
TARTAN QUEEN was slow into stride over 1100m last time but stayed on nicely to finish fourth. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of William Longsword will love the extra furlong on offer and with luck from the widest draw, she should win in a field of this nature.
LA PEQUENITA was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1600m. She gets the blinkers re-fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. If putting her best foot forward, she should pose a massive threat.
GLOBAL SCENE has fair form lines to her name. She tries the polytrack for the first time and if suited, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.
RACE 3
CRIMSON COMET ran a fair race when second over 1600m on the turf last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he hung inwards in the final 400m. He gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. If suited to the polytrack, he can go one better.
DANCE MO stayed on when third over 1900m on this course last time. The daughter of Royal Mo should enjoy the extra 100m on offer. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and is one of the leading contenders.
PORTCULLIS is better than his last start over 1600m. His penultimate run when second over this C&D was encouraging. If finding the form of that effort, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 4
GIVE US A SMILE finished 1 length behind THE INKOSANA last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He jumps from pole position and if getting away to a clean start, he should be involved at the finish.
KANIMAMBO was running on when third over 1900m last time. He finished 3.25 lengths behind THE INKOSANA in his penultimate run. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
THE INKOSANA fought hard over 1900m last time, but found one too good in the form of Heknows. He won his penultimate start over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of four and may be hard to peg back.
Race 5
SLAINTE MHATH was doing his best work late when fourth over 1600m on this course. He was reported to be coughing post-race. The son of Duke Of Marmalade will love the rise to 1900m and in this field, he can return to winning ways.
HEAD GARDENER finished 2.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
MALDANO is better than his last start over 1600m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of The United States will love the rise to 1900m and from pole position, he can find a form return.
Race 6
This is a weak Merit Rated 62 Handicap for the girls and HUGSANDHIGHFIVES is the first selection. She was running on when fifth over this C&D last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate meets the right field and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
SEASIDE TRIP fought hard for her last victory over this C&D. She takes on stronger, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.
MILLIONDOLLAR GIRL’S last start must be ignored as she stumbled and fly jumped leaving the start. She won a good race in her penultimate run over 1300m on this course. If getting away to a clean start, she may be the one to cause the upset.
RACE 7
KOMESANS PASSION showed good signs of a form return in her last start over 1200m on this course. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Willow Magic has dropped to a competitive rating and she may be the one to side with.
LADY CRUSADE showed some signs of needing her last start over 1300m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SEATTLE RIPPER ran a fair race over 1000m last time. He takes another drop in the ratings and can earn another cheque for his patrons.
RACE 8
FULL OF MAGIC showed good speed when third over 1000m on the Polytrack last time. She would have come on from the run and the tongue-tie seems to have done the trick. She jumps from a good draw of two and may be the one to beat.
CRUZADOR fought hard when second in his last start over 1000m on this course, but found one too good in the form of Notorix. He has found form and should be the first male past the winning post.
BENNELONG POINT showed signs of needing his last start over 1300m on this course. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Calvin Habib may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most
