Spain

Spain came through their semi final match up with France on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory. They conceded the first goal of the game on just 9 minutes but young superstar Lemine Yamal scored a spectacular equalizer on 21 minutes and 4 minutes later Dani Olmo put Spain in front. There was no further scoring and once again Spain rubber stamped their favourites tag with another impressive display.

Spain were paired with host nation Germany in the quarter finals. It finished 1-1 in regulation time and looked to be heading for a penalty shoot out when a 119th minute goal from Mikel Merino sent through. Dani Olmo had given Spain he lead early in the second half but Germany squared things up on 89 minutes.

Spain eventually made short work of Georgia in the Round of 16 with Nico Williams scoring a first half equalizer and second half goals from Lamine Yamal, Fabián Ruiz and Mikel Oyarzabal saw them run out 4-1 winners.

Spain were the only nation to emerge from the group stage with a 100% record. An early goal from Ferran Torres was enough to beat Albania (1-0) an own goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win against Italy and they put an early marker down with a 3-0 win over Croatia thanks to first half goals from Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal.

England

A day after Spain had booked their ticket to the final England followed suit with a 2-1 win over the Netherlands. They also fell behind early doors, conceding after just 7 minutes but a Harry Kane penalty squared things up shortly afterwards. It remained 1-1 until the 90th minute when substitute Ollie Watkins found what proved to be the winner.

England sailed close to the wind before eventually getting past Switzerland, 5-3 on spot kicks in the quarter finals. We had to wait 75 minutes for the first goal which went the way of the Swiss but Saka equalized 5 minutes later and the game finished locked up at 1-1. England survived a huge scare against Slovakia in the Ro16. They were 1-0 down deep into injury time when Jude Bellingham found the net to send the game into extra time, Harry Kane quickly put England 2-1 up and that's the way it finished.

England were hardly convincing but they topped Group C unbeaten with 1 win and 2 draws. They played out a 0-0 draw with Slovenia in their final group outing, Harry Kane gave them the lead in a 1-1 draw with Denmark and in their first action of the tournament an early Bellingham goal was enough to see off Serbia 1-0.

The Betting

In the outright betting to win the tournament via any method Sportingbet have Spain at 13/20 and England at 12/10

At the time of writing Spain are 1.45/1 to win this match in regulation time, a draw is 1.85/1 and England can be backed at 24/10

A game of 3 goals or more in regulation time is priced at 1.37/1 and it's even money for both teams to find the net.

There are plenty of price boosts on offer at Sportingbet including England to win and both teams to score? (yes) at 7.25/1 from 6/1 and Lamine Yamal to score the first goal at 10/1 from 8.25/1

The Verdict:

Spain have surely been the most consistent team in the tournament but England did put in their best display in the first half of their semi final with the Dutch and whilst the bookmakers have the right favourite, I'm shying away from the match result.

I think we will see goals in normal time and I'm with both sides to find the net.

Putting a bit more thought into it the impressive Nico Williams gets the vote to provide an assist and England have enough talent on the flanks to cause Cucurella problems and he could pick up a card in regulation time.

Bets: Both teams to score? (yes) at even money with Sportingbet

To provide 1 or more assists, Nico Williams at 4.75/1 with Sportingbet

Player to be shown a card Marc Cucurella at 31/10 with Sportingbet
