The Springboks and British & Irish Lions meet in the 2nd Test match in Cape Town on Saturday. We take a look at the game from a betting angle.
The British & Irish Lions came from 12-3 down at the break to beat the Springboks 22-17 and take a 1-0 lead in the 3 match series.
Let’s start with a look at the latest Series Betting which has the British & Irish Lions at 7/20 for the win with South Africa 5/2 and the draw trading at 22/1. The correct score British & Irish Lions to win 2-1 is an even money favourite, South Africa winning 2-1 at 11/4.

THE 2ND TEST
Onto the game itself and it goes without saying the Springboks have to win this one and based on Social Media, many of their fans feel they were hard done by in the 1st Test. Although the Lions opened slight favourites for this game, World Sports Betting now have it priced as a choice match with both teams available at 1/1 and the draw at 20/1.
The Springboks were impressive in the first half last week gaining slight ascendency in the pack and forcing the Lions into errors and ultimately into conceding penalties. They failed to sustain this momentum in the second-half and it was the Lions who started to get the edge up front and most importantly dominated the aerial battle. You could make arguments that both sides have room for improvement and while I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Boks shortening to favourites, I think the betting will remain very close until kick off.

Suggested Bet: Over 41.5 points at 9/10
The betting suggests this will be a tight game and I totally agree. I am expecting a bit more enterprise from the Boks though and the Lions showed me in that 2nd half they are capable of creating try scoring opportunities. The points line is set at 41.5 and I will be betting we get 42 points or more in total.
