BettingDiaryArgentina play their first Tri-Nations match when they take on New Zealand at the Bankwest Stadium in Sydney on Saturday and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Let’s take a look at the latest betting for the Tri-Nations or Rugby Championship and we have New Zealand trading at 1/7 for the Title despite losing their opening game against Australia last week. The Wallabies are 9/2 and you can get a massive 33/1 on Argentina.

The All Blacks were stunned last week in Brisbane going down to the Wallabies 24/22, a game where they started 15 point favourites. They had beaten the Wallabies convincingly the week before and over in New Zealand drew 1 game and won 1 by 20 points.

Argentina have played a number of warm up games in Australia so they won’t be coming into this game totally raw although at the same time have played nothing to match the intensity of a test match.

The last season the sides met in Argentina with New Zealand edging the game 20/16 and Argentina have proven capable of staying with New Zealand for long periods, but quite often fade in the final 20 minutes of the match.

New Zealand 1/20

Draw 66/1

Argentina 13/1

Handicap: New Zealand (-24.5) at 9/10, Argentina (+24.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Winning Margin, New Zealand by 26-30 points inclusive at 11/2.

It is a bit of a speculative play this one, but with the handicap set so high at 24.5 I am reluctant to get involved at those levels. I do think New Zealand will beat the handicap though and this bet will give me a pre-match interest while I keep an eye on all the in-running action and also look for a First Try Scorer play when the teams are announced.
