The Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom is the venue for this weekend’s British Grand Prix and the big question is whether anyone can stop the dominant Max Verstappen.
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
Verstappen won his 5th successive Grand Prix in Austria last week taking a clean sweep of pole position, fastest lap, the sprint classification and of course the race itself where he won by 5 seconds from Charles Leclerc with Verstappen’s teammate, Perez a further 12 seconds back in 3rd.
Verstappen is now 81 points clear at the top of the table ahead of his teammate, Perez who is 17 points clear of Alonso with Hamilton a further 25 points back.
Perez has now shortened into 9/20 to win the Championship “without Verstappen” with Alonso 3/1 and Hamilton 5/1.

2022 BRITISH GRAND PRIX
Carlos Sainz Jnr. qualified in pole position in last year’s British Grand Prix and he turned that into a race victory beating Perez and Lewis Hamilton who completed the podium. Max Verstappen finished down in 7th almost 20 seconds back. Hamilton recorded the fastest lap in his Mercedes.
The victory by Carlos Sainz Jnr. broke a 3 match winning streak from Lewis Hamilton who has won this race a record 8 times dating back to his first win in 2008.

VERDICT
Max Verstappen is understandably short at 7/20, but given he has only been beaten twice all season you could argue that it is a price well worth taking. If you do take it World Sports Betting do have a promo where you get your money back should he finish 2nd so that is some nice insurance given he hasn’t finished outside the top 2 all season.
The bet I prefer here is Lando Norris to go well in his home Grand Prix. He showed signs of improved form last week finishing just off the podium and was 6th here last year so I am happy to take the 15/10 that he repeats that performance in 2023.
Suggested Bet: Top 6 Finish Lando Norris, YES, at 15/10
I mentioned when recapping the 2022 edition that Hamilton got the fastest lap and although he was disappointing last time out, his form has generally improved as the season has worn on and I am going to take a double figure price that he gets the fastest lap in his home Grand Prix.
Suggested Bet: Fastest Lap, Lewis Hamilton at 10/1
