WSB Logo Orange 80x80We head to Spa this week as the drivers get ready to compete at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in this year’s Belgian GP. We will look at the race from a betting angle and will make a few suggested bets.

PREVIOUS RACE – British GP

The British GP three weeks ago saw one of the most exciting races of the year as Lando Norris won in front of his home crowd for the first time. Oscar Piastri, who was given a 10-second time penalty that cost him the lead still had another podium finish in 2nd, while the news of the day was 3rd placed Niko Hulkenberg who got his first F1 podium of his career after years of trying.

CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

Oscar Piastri                    234 points

Lando Norris                    226 points

Max Verstappen              165 points

George Russell               147 points

Norris closed the gap yet again after winning back-to-back races and is now only eight points behind Piastri in the Drivers Championship. The bookies still have Piastri as favourite to win, trading at 1.66 while Norris is priced at 2.30.

McLaren             460 points

Red Bull             172 points

In the winners without McLaren pool, the bookies have Ferrari as favourites to win after jumping ahead of Mercedes on points. They are currently trading at 1.50 while Mercedes are priced at 3.50. The bookies have Red Bull trading at 6.50.

VERDICT

Lando Norris is coming into this week off back-to-back wins and knows that he has the chance to overtake Piastri in the Drivers Championship. He has found his form again in the car after a small dip a few weeks ago where he let Piastri gain a lead on him but now he is back and ready to take the lead in the Championship. I think he stands a very good chance of winning this weekend.

Suggested Bet: Lando Norris to win at 2.90.

Leclerc is returning to a track where he has seen success before, finishing third at last years race. Ferrari have also started to find a bit of momentum, overtaking Mercedes in the Constructors Championship and I think Leclerc has a very good chance of getting his car on the podium come the end of the race this weekend.

Suggested Bet: Charles Leclerc podium finish at 2.75.
