Southampton v Manchester United
Southampton opened their points account with a 2-0 victory away to Brighton last week, a task that was made a touch easier when their opponents were reduced to 10 men in the first half. Despite that win Southmapton are third from bottom after defeats in their first two matches, 3-0 at Burnley and 2-1 at home to Liverpool.
United were on the wrong end of a shock result last week as they went down 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace. United also missed a penalty in that game and they come into the weekend with 4 points after a comfortable 4-0 home win over Chelsea and a 1-1 draw at Wolves, a game where they also missed from the penalty spot.
Southampton played well in the home defeat to Liverpool and after getting off the mark last week they could be a handful here.
Prediction: Southampton 2-2 Man United
Newcastle v Watford
Newcastle sprang a surprise with a 1-0 away to Spurs last weekend, their first points of the season courtesy of a Joelinton goal. Earlier results comprised of a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal on the opening weekend and a 3-1 loss at Norwich.
Watford have yet to earn a point and they are bottom of the early season standings after a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton, 1-0 loss at Everton and most recently they lost 3-1 at home to West Ham.
Newcastle should take plenty from last week's win at Spurs and although Watford badly need a boost the visitors wait for a first point of the season may well have to continue.
Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Watford
Chelsea v Sheffield United
Chelsea got their first league win for Frank Lamapard away at Norwich last week, edging an entertaining game 3-2. They had started with a 4-0 defeat at Manchester United and despite taking an early lead against Leicester in their only home game so far they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Sheffield United suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Leicester last week, their first loss since being promnoted last season. The Blades had started with a usefull 1-1 draw at Bournemouth and they followed up with a 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace.
Chelsea should have too much for their opponents although it may not be a procession.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Sheff United.
Burnley v Liverpool
Burnley were pegged back by a late penalty in a 1-1 draw at Wolves last week. They now have four points to show for their efforts so far after starting with a 3-0 home win over Southampton and a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal. Ashley Barnes has scored four of Burnley's five league goals so far.
Liverpool are the only team to have taken maximum points from the first three rounds of matches. They saw Arsenal off 3-1 at Anfield last week with Mo Salah scoring twice and they started with a 4-1 home win over Norwich and a hard earned 2-1 victory at Southampton.
Burnley will work their socks off but Liverpool are hard to oppose.
Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Liverpool
Everton v Wolves
Goals have been scarce for Everton this season. They only time they have found the net came in the one home fixture so far, a 1-0 win over Watford when Bernard struck early. Last weekend they lost 2-0 at Villa and they started with a 0-0 draw at Palace.
Wolves have drawn all three of their matches, 0-0 at Leicester and 1-1 at home to Manchester United and Burnley.
Wolves won this fixture 3-1 last season but the draw gets the vote in what looks likely to be a tight game and 1-1 is our idea of the correct score.
Prediction: Everton 1-1 Wolves
Arsenal v Spurs
Arsenal were no match for Liverpool at Anfield last week, going down 3-1 with Torreira scoring a late consolation. The Gunners won their only home game so far 2-1 against Burnley with Lacazette opening the scoring and Aubameyeng netted the winner. Aubameyeng also scored the only goal of the game in Arsenal's win at Newcastle on the opening weekend.
After taking four points from their first two matches of the seasonSpurs let favourite backers down last week, losing 1-0 at home to Newcastle. In earlier results Lamela and Lucas were their scorers in a 2-2 draw away to Manchester City whilst on Matchday 1 they came from behind to see off Aston Villa 3-1.
Arsenal won this fixtiure 4-2 last season but this derby could well finish all square and 2-2 is our pick.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Spurs.
