BettingDiaryAfter a thrilling US Open the PGA Tour continues in Connecticut this week with the TPC River Highlands once again the venue for the Travelers Championship.

The TPC River Highlands is a par 70 layout and in the last seven years winning scores have ranged from -12 to -19. Last year Harris English won it with a -13 total and the course played slightly tougher than it usually does. This will be a much easier test than Brookline and ultimately the winner is likely to be in top form with the putter.

Rory Mcilroy and Scottie Scheffler both had good weeks at the US Open and they top the betting boards at 10/1 with Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay 14/1 and you can get 20/1 and better the balance in what is a strong field.

Scanning down the betting boards it took me a while to find the Top South African being Christiaan Bezuidenhout priced at 100/1 and he is 16/10 to be the best of his countrymen. Click here for Top South African Betting

SELECTIONS:

Rory Mcilroy each way at 10/1

Rory is in excellent form having won the Canadian Open in his penultimate start before finishing 5th in the US Open last week. He didn’t play this event last year, but had some solid course form with 3 Top 20 finishes in his 3 starts. Rory’s game appears to be getting back to its consistent best and if his putter is on song he is going to be hard to stop this week.

Sam Burns each way at 20/1

Burns faded over the weekend at the US Open eventually finishing inside the Top 30, but coming into that Tournament he had a Top 5, a victory and a Top 20 in his previous 3 starts. Burns has played at this course 3 times improving on each occasion and last year he finished 13th. I think he will enjoy the easier surroundings of the River Highlands layout and perhaps the fact that he wasn’t contending on Sunday at Brookline will prove a bonus.

Brian Harman each way at 40/1

Brian Harman has been in some solid form and last week battled gamely to finish 43rd in the US Open. It was a course that didn’t suit his game and he now plays on a track where he has 3 Top 10’s and a Top 5 (2021) in the last 4 years. Harman is always hovering around the top of leader boards and hopefully this week he can go close and perhaps even finish the job.

Marc Leishman each way at 50/1

Leishman finished in the Top 3 here last year and has a number of good showings here over the last few years including a victory back in 2012. He put up a solid performance at Brookline finishing in the Top 15 and with his form leading into the US Open a bit suspect, it suggests that his game is coming along nicely.
